Went out to the coast this weekend, anyone else out that way this weekend? It was amazing weather most of Saturday! :) Saw a ton of nice Tacoma's! Wish I would have gotten pictures of them but I failed... :(

Quick question.. anyone have any work done in the Newberg area at a place called The Muffler Works? I've heard mixed reviews. I plan to get some welding done on my exhaust and looking for somewhere reputable but also decently priced.. I'm really just getting my existing stock pipe cut back a few inches and a exhaust tip welded on. Any suggestions are welcomed.

So I am now the proud owner of a 2014 RAV4 Limited. Barcelona Red, black leather interior, Entune, nav, etc.

(of course I still have the taco!) Purchased from Gresham Toyota Friday. Great price, no haggling on price of the car, as it was an internet special.

So the Finance guy was trying to pull a fast one on me with the extended warranty. My wife and I both have A+ credit, and were pre-approved at our credit union. So when he presents the price of the Extend Warranty @ 2200, I laughed at him. He then comes and shows me how is is "saving" me $750, but I have to finance with EnPoint, at a lower rate. I was pissed at that, as he could have just told me he could finance the car at a lower rate. He would not provide lower rate unless I purchased the extended warranty. Clown...

I know other dealers were selling these online, but Toyota Corp put an end to that, unless you purchase in state.

So my question is, are there any dealers in Oregon selling these at a discounted price?

Hey James, I also just bought a rig. That sounds like complete bullshit that he wouldn't finance you at the lower rate without buying the warranty. They're completely separate pieces of the deal  .

I would have put an end to the deal then and there if he was trying to essentially black mail you into buying the warranty.

The finance guy for my deal also pushed the warranty. But it was an 8 year, 80k bumper to bumper for $1800 (what he claimed was his cost on it).

I took the warranty because they were giving me a good deal on the 4Runner I was buying and I know the warranty is able to be cancelled and refunded at any time (I'm going to do this shortly).

What were the terms on the warranty he was trying to sell? Was it the same length as the one I got?

So as I mentioned in the post above, I'm back to the Toyota family. Couldn't take the pains in the ass that came with owning a diesel. Plus, I had a Mazda3 Skyactiv that I was using for work but no longer needed. So I sold both the diesel and the Mazda private party (both sold in the same day!) and came out ahead pretty well.

So... I started looking around and realized that a few dealers in the Corvallis/Eugene area were listing brand new 4Runners above $3-4K under MSRP.

Long story short, I have a new vehicle and god damn I am holding onto this one. I'm getting married next year and playing with vehicles has certainly taken a backseat. But, the diesel wasn't going to be a reasonable vehicle to have while I'm trying to cut back on extracurricular expenses, so...

He was pushing the 10 year 120K miles for $2200. I was already preapproved at my Credit Union, so I did buy the RAV. Like your purty runner, it was 4K below all of the other dealers out there.

I called my local dealer, and I can get the 8Yr 125K. Her price was $1995, but she can offer a Costco discount of 500 bucks off. I will call around and see what I can do. If I can get for ~1200 I will do it. There are so much computerized in these things that I do not want to pay out the nose for if something breaks in 3 years....

If you have a costco membership, go back to your dealer and see if he will honor it. I was told of this by Gresham Toyota, and Royal Moore. If they don't honor it, call Royal Moore, they will.

I just hate these warranties, honestly. I'm buying a Toyota. IF anything is going to go wrong on it, I'd expect it to fail pretty soon in the vehicles life. Otherwise it's probably good for a while. I've never heard of major failures on Tacomas or 4Runners.

Do you have experience making a claim on an extended warranty? It seems to me like it would be even worse than the factory warranty when it comes to them blaming you for things such as not having spotless maintenance records, etc.

I have not had to make a claim on the Tacoma, as there is not much computerized there. I had all of the TSB's done pre warranty expiration.

On the RAV, and I assume your 4Runner, damn near everything is run by a computer, and if it breaks after 3 years, you are going to pay the stealership alot of money. At the end of the day, if I have to pay 1500 for it, and it covers me for 7 years, it is only a few less beers a month to pay for it....

So you bringing the new toy up to Browns for the TSF run? Been a while since we have seen you.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Lemolo Lake is 12 miles from Diamond Lake, smaller, and not as commercialized. I know the owner and my dad works there in the summers. It's a nice place.

Probably not. This one's my pavement queen for now. Being a black truck, I'm going to baby it for a while.

Solid axle swap. That'll fix it!

Hah, almost came to that - I was super low on the diff oil. No damage from what I know, I topped off and drove around a dirt lot and everything sounds peachy. If I had not looked at it for another month or two, or if I had gone to the TSF meet like this, I would definitely have horked it.

I think it is just about time to cut down a couple trees by the barn. I sharpened my chainsaw yesterday, and it is cutting like a champ again. I just have to rig the trees so I can pull them away from the barn. They both are leaning toward it now and would definitely hit if I took them down without rigging.

I'm looking forward to a Zach SAS, but a Mike SAS is probably still going to happen sooner.
