My days of cruising up I-5 are over. Now I have to do the shuffle to the PDX VA from the central coast.

Hope surgery gets you results. I've had good luck with the surgeons there. Sometimes the student doctors on rounds are a pain in the ass, but it's fun to screw with them if you're not too whacked out on pain meds. Haha.

It's my favorite sport while wearing clothing that opens in the back. LOL

I like to tell the kiddies in white coats my dumb duck joke.

"Did you hear about the frustrated duck? He couldn't get his down up."

Then sit back and watch for the faces of the ones who don't get it. Which is just as funny as the punchline, to me. Learned the joke when I was seven yrs old. It still holds up.

Here's another one I used to demonstrate to my sgts when our Base Ops got invaded by AFA cadets every summer. Give a teenager a flight suit and call him a cadet... he thinks he's the boss of everybody in stripes. These cadets would be sitting all over the floor awaiting their ride out of the ooohhh so boring ICBM land of Whiteman AFB. Back when there were still MMIIs in holes in Missouri.

So you start glancing up at the ceiling every minute or so. Begin to show a curious or perplexed expression. Do that for 5 minutes or so. But often it'll work sooner. The cadets start craning their necks back to try and see what we see. I whisper to my guys... and that is how cadets are like turkeys in the rain. Gawd, that was a fun bunch to work with... this was just before the B-2s came in so it was a fairly slow airfield back then. Work was fun. :)

I wonder how well that game would work on the morning herd of interns.

I loved fucking with cadets in the desert. Had a group walk by me when I was in uniform. Their "leader" stopped us and told us they were going to "write us up" for not saluting them. I got up real close to him, inspected his rank, unpinned it and looked it over more. Handed it back to him just saying "didn't know they have rank to piles of shit as tall as you. Congrats on going to college. Call me when you put on real rank and I might salute the thing on your shoulder. But with your attitude I'll never salute you."

I got called into an office about a day later though. Commander just laughed about it.

they dont offer good speed packages compared to comcast, BUT comcast will try to bait and steal your money with customer service. I've had more downtown with comcast than frontier in the past, both have their downsides. Comcast will try to nickel and dime you on service without telling you.

I have Verizon fios. It has been very reliable. In just over 2 years it has dropped once for a couple of hours. Not as fast as I would like but I am on a low package cuz I dont want to sign up for another 2 years.

frontier offers fios which is better than comcasts speeds. i currently have comcast and hate them but know they have a good product. i think i will try frontier fios and see how it goes.

    Hahahahahahahahaaa... brilliant!

I think the writing on the wall of the end of my career... was walking across a commons area at Spangdahlem AB one winter day. A two striper was flapping his coat along like curtains in the wind, no cover. I stopped him... didn't make him stand at attention or anything crazy... but informed him he needed to get back in regs.

The kid told me... "I don't work for you. So you can't make me do nothing."

Mannnnnn, what happened to good order and discipline? I will never know. The kid's prissy captain called me the next day. Captain. Hello Captain. You can't speak down to my troops. Excuse me? You heard me. These are my troops, not yours. You can't be ordering them around. Wait, what??? The conversation went down hill from there. Sigh!

20 years later... a lot of meds... and I still get a knot in my stomach to relate that bizarre phone conversation.

Oh well. Screw them. I've got a brand new Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Just ordered my Weathertech floor mats, bug shield doodad, and rain shields. Tomorrow I'll drive to the valley to start the process of getting the right canopy for the new Toy.

Thinking it'll be a Leer, but still a little uncertain. I know it's got to be fiberglass... rounded rear window door thing... dunno what kind of side windows to get... want ventilation for the dogs, but don't want them to be able to push the things open and bail out. Screens not strong enough for these kids. Maybe those vent windows that push out on one end?

Anyhow... onward with life and, as we used to say in missiles... Keep the pointy side up. :)

Maybe too late to put in my two cents... and, non-drinker here... but the McMenamins places are a lot of fun dry or drinker. Good beers from what my friends say when we go.

I just went to the Kennedy School for the first time last month. It's over on the NE side of Portland. Really cool how they turned the school into a whole variety of venues. The pub in the old Boiler Room of the original school, complete with all the pipes and tanks... just neat, if you're in to steam punk type industrial stuff.

At least you've got the smart phone to disappear virtually. Sorry, man. Tough to be the eye candy for your gf to show off, but then again... there are fringe benefits, right? If not, you better start negotiating some. LOL

That's my favorite Portland place. Took a girlfriend to stay at the hotel there once.
