Wtf. Ok, you can use my Lab to go "grouse hunting" in the same area if you'd like. He'll sniff it out. I'll even carry a 12 gauge to make it look right.

Ahh ok. That makes sense. My uncle still uses a dog to hunt cougar and bear. However, he is a trapper for the government in the Portland area.

A buddy of mine that bow hunts swears by carrying a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide with him. Guess it foams like mad when it comes in contact with blood.

Yea, some bullshit about people abusing it and using them to hunt big game. If someone is going to use dogs to hunt they will do it no matter what. No reason to punish everyone else and waste animals in a futile attempt to curtail hunting with dogs. Royally pissed me off. Nothing I hate more than wasting an animal. This is the first year its happened to me.

Sadly, I don't really know anyone. Also I'd like to avoid having an overzealous RO breathe down my neck because I've loaded more than one round in my magazine. Thanks for the info tho!

The RO's there aren't nazi's like the other ranges. Technically it is moderated by the users, and there are actually no designated RO's.

"Rate of fire and magazine capacity - There is no limitation on magazine capacity or how many rounds can be loaded into magazines. There is no limitation on rate of fire, the only requirement is that all rounds are delivered down range in a controlled manner and impact the berm."

Also, I just remembered about this. I believe it's $10 or something like that. http://www.svrifle.org/site/f83b229...p://www.svrifle.org/Hunter_Sight-In.html#2758

I have a few friends who are members so I usually just tag along with them. Been meaning to become a member at some point, just haven't done it yet.

They don't smell all that great when they are still alive. If the hair isn't slipping yet you can at least save the fur, but don't eat any of that meat. Bear fat quickly goes rancid. If coyotes won't eat it you know it's bad. Plunk the skull in a bucket of water over the winter. It's not too smelly and the microbes will eat all of the nasties off the skull without causing any shrinkage.

Awwww man, that's a bummer. I admire your persistence! Is the hide salvageable? I'm sure the meat is sour.

Really close to where I shot him. It went straight uphill and side-hilled for a bit and pretty much came back to where I shot it.

The hair is starting to slip a bit. Every taxidermist I've talked to has been really insistent that you have to have the hide off an animal, frozen, and to them within 24 hours or its toast. I could go skin it still. The flies were already on it and up the nose and mouth though...

Thanks, definitely a bummer. I came really damn close to it the next day too. Just off by enough to not see it.

I just spent $15 on a single bottle of beer. I don't know if I can finish it, and I've drank hot PBR before. At 10.9% ABV, at least I might catch a buzz.

Awesome. Just got home from discount tire putting on some new wheels and tires on my truck. They ended up snapping a faulty stud. Now I get to take it in to Toyota on Monday to have them fix my stud. Its a 2015 with 2500 miles on it.

I hate to break this to you, but they are all "faulty". I don't know why, but the new wheel studs shear off very easily. I hit a rock in the desert and sheared off 4 of 6 studs, and they were torqued to spec. I replaced them all with ARP wheel studs and haven't had an issue yet. I suppose it's because our wheels are "hub centric" and not lug centric so the studs really just need to hold the wheel on, but they still suck.
