That's not what I want to hear. Im not looking forward to having to replace studs. I did it once on my work truck and it was a pain in the ass.

As long as you are gentle with them, they will last a lifetime. If you try to do a nascar pit stop like discount tire, you will break them. I offer to tip the tech $20 if they don't use air tools and actually use a torque wrench if I have to get work done at a tire shop.

Thats why I like Les Schwab. When I go to Schwab they use torque wrenches on my vehicles.

I refuse to give those douchebags another penny. I work for the government, and like to spend your tax dollars on items made in America if I have to spend them. I had a torn sidewall in the work truck and went to Schwab's. I asked several times if they had a tire made in the USA in that size. I was very adamant that I needed US tires. The employee said they had US made tires, and he would personally ensure they were. I walk out to the truck 1/2 hour later and guess what is clearly stamped in the sidewall.... made in china. They do have decent customer service overall though.

Im curious as to where you get your tires done then if you seem displeased with schwab and discount.

I go to Premium lube in Pendleton, but they are 'Yota guys and just a small shop. America's/discount tire isn't bad, I just like to talk to the tech before they go to reefing on lug nuts is all.

Goodbye Zach (04LTtacoma)! He's officially a non-Tacoma owner  and I'm picking up his BFG KM2 from him..his last tie to anything truck related.

Ok, throwing a request out there:

Does anybody know where in the Portland area I can get my new sliders welded on for a reasonable price?

The one guy that did some welding on my boat trailer hurt his hand and is out for a little while.

Metaltech in Newberg didn't bother to return my call.

I went out of town last weekend. The guy I had lined up at my destination (friend's brother down south) took a look and then decided that his 110v welder wouldn't get enough penetration and declined to help.

Another shop there could do it Monday, but I had to be back to work today, so...

I COULD buy a welder and relearn what I forgot from 30 years ago in metal shop, but that's a pain in the ass. I'd have to have 220 run, I don't really have a place to store it, and I wouldn't use it for anything else.

I'd rather go with someone that's known to do good work rather than pick someone at random from a Google search.

Or hell, if someone here knows how to weld good I'd be up for that too...it doesn't have to be a professional shop.

    Thanks Brother Tacos in arms!

I don't know what their rates are- http://landcruisernw.com/

Or get a readywelder. They run on two car batteries and can single pass 1/2" plate steel no problem. They are around $500, and will weld anything they make wire for. The cool thing is they are portable, and easy to use. I've built my whole truck with one, cage and all, and built several sets of sliders, bumpers, etc.

I had suggested these guys to someone else awhile back and I guess the quote was high. Might be worth checking though. I have used them and trust them.

They're like 2 weeks out on any new work. Over the phone ballpark estimate was $250-300.

    Yikes.

The peroxide reacts with the iron in the blood. It's a simple tracking method!
