I'm heading down to the Seattle area this weekend to meet up with a buddy of mine who just moved there and also just bought himself a new 4runner. We're looking for some trails and a place to camp within a 2-3 hour drive of downtown Seattle. Nothing too extreme, both trucks (4runner and my tacoma) are stock ride height with good all terrian tires.

    Any recommendations?

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
The ones in my pics are different Hobo Spiders. When we lived in that house, I found about 7-8 of them that size. I actually have 5 little scars on my rib-cage from when I rolled on one in my sleep (or at least that's what I assume happened). Woke up to 5 nasty holes that were oozing green pus...:hungry:

I probably should have, but I was like 19 at the time and thought "Doctors are dumb" :p

Luckily, it healed up fine (other than the scars). It could've been much worse....google Hobo Spider bite and prepare to pucker-up your bunghole.

Close with great views and lots of options once you're out there.

Another decent spot a bit further in, many more along the way.

Thanks, looks like a nice spot with some great views. I think I came across a post of yours with that shot while digging though the forum for some info.

Both Google maps links are for the same location though unless I'm missing something?

I've also seen a few things posted here about an area called Tahuya state park. Do you know anything about this area?

oops google didnt update my route changes. I edited the second link, should work now. It's just another spot in the general area that I camp at, generally it's a vacant area.

I don't know much about Tahuya, Brian @northwesttaco should be able to help you out with that one.

Tahuya would be about an hour and a half plus waiting for ferry time (unless you drive around) from downtown Seattle.

Its a nice, well maintained "jeep park". I only say jeep cause its a jeep club that maintains it. The main loop is pretty well marked (diamonds on tree i believe mark the route). Skill wise stock tacomas can do it. A couple spots youll have to be careful but for the most part its nothing real challenging. But lots of places to flex the suspension! Any difficult obsticle generally has an easy route and a harder route. Total time to do it all...id say anywhere from 4 hours to 6 hours, just depends how much you fart around. You will need a discovery pass though. I think you can get day ones? (honestly not sure) and i would recommend getting one as Saturdays are usually the busy day and its not uncommon for there to be someone checking for them.

View wise there isnt really anything to see. Its a pretty flat overall forest so you mostly are looking at trees or clearings.

O and there inst really a lot of places for camping. You have to camp is the designated places. Ive honestly never checked them out so i dont know how nice they are.

If it was me and i was coming from far away....I'd head more towards Snoqualmie and get some views!

Thanks for the info, I think I'll skip Tahuya and head east on I90 over to Snoqualmie. Tahuya sounds like more of an offroad park. Looking more for a backroad/offroad adventure. I hate the thought of potentially beating up my truck unless there's a designation in mind and some views along the way.

Yup what @velillen said. It is very forestry as you are literally in the middle of the forest, trails can be very tight in places but overall not that hard. Definitely some harder trails but they are easy to stay away from.

Heading out to Eastern Oregon this weekend to camp at Devils Lake near Mt Bachelor. Any fun trails that me and my buddies can explore on the way there or around that area? Thanks in advance.

Anyone have any CB supplies they don't have any use for anymore?

Amazon has a great price on a Uniden 520, which IMO is the best radio for a Tacoma since it's so small. Finding a place for a Cobra 29 is almost impossoble. You can also find great prices on Firesticks. I bought a 5' for $25 new.

I can tune your SWR if you need.

I'm pretty sure I have a 9' cable. I'd have to double check when I get home though. Might have some other stuff but not 100% sure

That is central Oregon. Post, Oregon is the geographical center of Oregon, and that is about 80 miles east of Bend.

The Cascades do have a few fire roads, but you have to go over to the east side of Hwy 97 to get into the good wheelin'. Head out to China hat and you'll see the cinder cone wheelin' areas along the way with some fun hill climbs and whatnot. You can go from there to the Christmas Valley sand dunes almost all on the dirt if you take the right roads.

I looked and all i could find is a 9' cable thats new in packaging and a 18' one. The 18' has some damage but would work just fine. The out covering is torn in one sport and the copper is exposed. Not to bad and heat shrink or electrical tape would fix it.

Also have a SWR meter but thats not really an extra but something you could borrow if needed.

Im also pretty sure i have a Firestik K4-1 (something) stud and a 90 degree adapter but im not 100% sure where it is. Could look harder if it was something you wanted
