A bit haha. Tactical Solutions barrel, Nikon scope, Hogue stock. It shoots like a dream! Left it for scavengers haha. Shot a dozen ground squirrels and rock chucks today. Hanging out at friend's ranch and doing some pest control. I have cooked some up before and they taste pretty decent.

Nice. I saw a little bit of evidence of ground squirrels out on my property, but nothing to justify a special trip. Did see a few rabbits, so hopefully I'll be able to get a couple every now and then. Though, my lil Savage is no where close to being that nice.

    Bookmarked on Yelp!

Yea, about that.... No, (1) My truck doesn't meet the requirement since I don't have front recovery point and (2) Mechanically, I don't trust my truck to make it back if I were to take it out.

However, I've thought about going as a spectator and taking pictures/videos :) but I have no camping gear what-so-ever and have no means of getting up there

I've got an extra tent. Possibly a sleeping bag but I need to look. You'd have to supply your own food and drink. I haven't heard from my cousin yet.

There's this magical thing called carpooling.
Camping gear would be a problem, but if you have a sleeping bag I think someone would have an extra tent. Weren't you in the military? I thought you could make shelter out of brush and used underwear.
Really though, you should just come for Friday night to BS and head back home late, if nothing else.

I have an extra sleeping bag, but you would roast. I can't use that thing for any temps above 40 it feels like.

I was working on changing out fluids on my truck. Got the rear diff, transfer case, and transmission done. Tried to do front diff. The front takes 10mm allen to get the drain and fill plugs out. I have sockets for that. Broke the fill plug loose. Broke the socket trying to get the drain opened. This is using a breaker bar with cheater bar. I got a new socket which is better quality and tried again. Still can't break the drain loose. I have also sprayed around the plug with rust breaker (the homemade kind). Use a hammer tapping on the breaker bar, getting a bigger breaker bar, working on it cold, working on it warm. Any suggestions from anybody here? 70k miles and I haven't changed it before.

If I do go I can provide my own food and drink, no problem :) How long will you be going for?

Wwhhaaa? You've seen my photos before? Flickr? Instagram?

I may consider caravaning with Cody for Friday if I don't carpool with Brady.

Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. We can always park your truck outside the area and get you back to it when we head to cell phone range if you wanted to do that. I know the wife would enjoy me making contact at least once or twice.

And my cousin is not coming. So I do have an extra seat.

at least you did them in the right order, have heard of guys draining and then breaking the allen on the fill plug..... On my 04 I had to use a breaker bar and my foot to get it to break loose. Was afraid I was going to break the allen.

So I just did this last week and the front diff plugs were a major PITA!!!
    100k miles almost exact.

I went to Lowes for a 10MM hex head socket that was 3/8 fitting.
I sprayed both drain/fill plugs with PB Blaster first.

Started with the Fill plug FIRST!!!
Started with a regular 8" 3/8 drive and feet on the sliders and such => no movement
Shifted to 12" 1/2 drive with 1/2 to 3/8" adapter to 10MM hex head => no movement
Hi Lift handle disconnected and used with the 12" 1/2 drive and some muscle => success!

Shifted to Drain plug next = > success
Have your catch can ready as the drain hole is larger than most.

Don't use an impact gun to tighten it back up tho. lol. I also use anti-sieze on the threads when reinstalling.

I have in impact driver but no impact wrench.

I was using a 2.5 ft long cheater bar on 3/8 breaker bar that started parallel to the ground then pulled it until it touched the ground. My next thought was to drive it on ramps, then use the cheater bar again. I even tried to tighten it just a little to get it moving.

Sounds like sheer brute force may be the answer for this one.

    Thanks for ideas.

I had to buy a new plug after using this method, but it works surprisingly well... Take a chisel and get a groove started on the outer edge, then angle it to the right a bit (to force the plug to loosen) and tap away at it.

So once I got home, dropped the kids off at the pool, and got a snack, I went back at it for more. I put the truck on my homemade ramps to get a little lift, then for fun, out the 3/8 socket adapter on my impact wrench. As I suspected, it didn't budge. Then I put the 9" long 3/8 breaker bar on with the cheater bar. I started torquing on it and before the breaker bar got too far, it popped loose. Got the filler plug out then started draining the fluid, and not in a good way. Front diff oil should be gray and opaque, right? Makes me wonder when it went swimming in just a little too deep of mud puddle. Might be time to consider the breather mod so I don't drown the diff again.
