Looks like freezing levels will be up around 5000ft over the weekend. Hoping to get up there early Sunday morning. Probably head up 58 to Oakridge and go from there.

We were between 4500 and 5000 ft. A little over a foot of snow.

Headed up to Lonesome Lake off of 75-410 on the NE side of Mt. Rainier on Saturday with the NWOL group to get a Charlie Brown Xmas tree.
Weather forecast looks like 9-20" snow.

It will be interesting and a challenge, I think.

So plans changed a bit with our tree. Wife doesn't want to do a u-cut this year after all.

And recommendations for family owned pre-cut lots?

Like I said earlier in this thread, I volunteer out at Haggs Tree Farm on the weekends. It's family owned. We do u-cut/we-cut/pre-cut. We have a hay ride, santa, petting zoo, free coffee and hot chocolate, and a little store. We have dougs and nobles and limited selection of grands.

Not sure where in Portland you are but you should look at my friends tree lot in Estacada, right across the street from Gerber Feed Store on Spring Water Rd.

Not a bad idea if no anchors are readily available.

Ive seen that done with a buried farm jack and shovel, and heard of it being done with the spare. But backing up the spare with a jack is new to me. Makes me feel kind of stupid. Lol.

Its just called a deadman's anchor. Common in mountaineering. You can use logs, tires, pretty much anything that will hold the weight.

Id rather use a log personally. I wouldnt want to put 5k+ of pulling force on my hi-lift or tire unless i had no other option (which in the case of the picture it looks like he doesnt have any other choice)

There are lots of ways to get unstuck, but I think this is the most well thought out unstuck I've ever seen.
