Cool! Yea beer is the only thing mapped out so far. Need to see how you guys compare to the breweries in San Diego! Oh yea and doing the Shanghai tunnes tomorrow night but other than that it's open for two days. Then on to Seattle.

Oh yeah, forgot about the shanghaii stuff. Oregon is VERY big on micro-brews right now. Can't speak as much for Portland, as I'm from a few hours away in Eugene; but there the breweries all over down town.

Oregon and Washington have more micro breweries per capita than California. Portland or Seattle each have more beer than San Diego.

But yes, there are some pretty big wild fires right now. Lane County and maybe some others are currently on a short term evacuation notice.

Everything cleared up for a hot minute last week. This was Monday morning vs. Wednesday morning in Corvallis.

We're looking for one (used) of those plastic kids play structures for our goats.

Let me know if you know of someone who has one just sitting in their yard and they don't need it anymore.

    Thanks!

As a fellow goat roper, go by a tire store and see if they will give you any used tires for free, the bugger the better, then partially bury them to keep them upright but the goats can jump on them. You can also go to electrical supply places (graybar, north coast, stoneway, Platt, and more) and see if they have any large wooden reels they want to get rid of

    Thanks.

I'm going to stop by Frontier and ask for their scrap wire reels.

Depending on the size, you may want to seek out smaller reels, or maybe do tires to get on the reels

Coming from Junction City (outside of Eugene) earlier today. My sister sent me this on her way in, looking out the front window of her car.IMG_0551.jpg

Feel free to tell her that I said she needs to clean the bug layer off to see clearly

If you guys need a good GPS system for Android, I'm totally convinced about OSMAnd. Only bad parts are:
    • there's a bit of setup finagling to do to get it how you want
    • if you try the free version then switch to OSMAnd+, you need to re-do all your personalizations and possibly move your personal data.
    • I can't figure if the contour lines plugin required an additional purchase or not - it should not have, but it kept tricking me into it and I gave in for the $2 of peace.

I created some maps in Google Maps, exported them as a KMZ, converted them to GPX, loaded them to the Android tablet, and I now have my entire route navigable and visible
It's also a lot easier than I'm making it sound:
Although Google keeps changing its interface, here's the latest way to do it:
    1. Make a map!
      1. maps.google.com
      2. Click the menu button (the three bars)
      3. Your places
      4. Maps
      5. Create Map
      6. get a map created. Doesn't matter if you draw lines or use actual routes, here's one I made of Tahuya
      7. Click the menu button (three dots) and select Export to KMZ
    2. Create the GPX!
      1. Go to GPS Visualizer
      2. Select Output format = GPX
      3. Click the first "choose files" button and select your KMZ
      4. Click Convert
      5. Save the file to your Android device (\Internal storage\Android\data\net.osmand.plus\files\tracks\)
    3. View!
      1. Open the app
      2. Click the menu button (the three bars)
      3. Configure map
      4. GPX track
      5. it should show up as an option to select, otherwise you may need to click 'add track' and go find it.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
The old ass submarine is actually the USS Blueback, the final conventionally powered combat submarine in the US Navy to be decommissioned. It was also in the movie "The Hunt for Red October".

It's funny to me when someone asks what's there to do in Portland :). It's a miniature San Francisco :)
