If you want to do it yourself, there's plenty of folks who can help, you just offer space and arrange things.
If you don't have space, the FB group, PNW Expedition, likes to use Gearhead Garage - you rent a bay and get to work on things yourself. I don't know if they have special hookups or if there is just a bunch of apartment dwellers who need a place to wrench.

Can't say I know the man. My sinks are from Pfizer and my toilets from Costco

Is it worth it at this point get get my license and waterfowl tag?! After being away for 4 years I want to hunt, but I am now in the Salem area and do not know any duck/goose spots.... also if I get my license and I can get points this year to save for a good tag. Opinions? Also if someone wants to pm me suggestions on spots i would really appreciate it :)

It's worth it if you can get resident tags. You can also hunt pheasants on those guided hunts with no license or tag. You can also get a cougar tag good till new years. I think it's too late to apply for any big game tags, but I might be wrong. As far as places to go- http://www.oregonhuntingmap.com/#/map
(Click on layers and select land ownership, or whatever bird you're hunting for a general idea of their range)

I also have the OnX Hunt app on my phone. It shows all the public land and who owns the private property so you know who to contact for permission to hunt. I've found a lot of people don't mind if you're not an asshole and know to leave gates how you found them. You can also download maps so when you're in the sticks with no signal you can still avoid trespassing.

Really cool app! I just downloaded it. I went out and got all my bird tags including turkey two days ago, so this will help in the process of finding land. How do you typically approach the land owners?

Drive up to the ranch house in the evening when people are home, introduce myself and ask what it would take to get permission to hunt. If they say no, thank them and move on. My elk/deer spot is in trade for helping out during branding/round up time, but really it's like 3 days a year of work for permission to hunt 5000+ acres. The only problem is the elk are never on his land during bow season! So it goes.

Dang that's awesome! Elk are smart man, I have yet to see a single one during the season, but I have only tried for two seasons. I'll be going next year though.
