Anyone know anything about/has advice on the following....

I put in for the Longshoreman lottery in November for the Port of Seattle where they were drawing 246 names.
Results came out earlier this month, I was #25

I'm waiting for something to come in the mail; I'm assuming to do medical and other testing and apply to get my TWIC Card.

Not a whole lot of forums or threads on this kind of work.
I know some things from research and talking to people, but anything you guys have on your end that would help me as an unidentified casual make it would be

    Thanks!

I’ve heard rumors of... sketchy (or illegal) doings going on and obviously if you rat you’re out, one way or another.

People are fairly vague when they say it but I pretty much get the idea

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.

I'm sure exactly what you're actually looking for, but if you need training in the maritime industry, a close friend of mine runs the premier school in the Northwest - Columbia Pacific Maritime.

In other news, my Taco blew up on Friday. I was cruising down 99 to Woodburn. Hit a light at Hubbard and it was running really rough. Got to the next light and it died. Got it started, made it to the next light so I took a right to get off the street and it died again. Massive quantities of smoke coming out of the tailpipe. When I ran my finger inside the pipe, it came back out black and wet. Had it towed to my mechanic's house out in Boring, and got a ride home. He can't get to it until after the 1st.

I was supposed to be moving a lot of my stuff on Saturday over to my new house in Baker. Come to find out the box truck I was going to borrow has no heater/defroster/12v to the dash. None of that's good where I'm going, so that's out.

So...I've been imprisoned here in my house for the last 3 days with no vehicle, Christmas alone, and my time line shot to shit. Renting a Uhaul is going to cost like $800 after mileage and fuel, which just seems insane, but apparently is going to be necessary.

All I know right now is that I'm thankful to have had the foresight to not have packed all of my alcohol. Hopefully I took the hit for someone else and you guys all had a good Christmas.

    Whining over.

Moving from the Dalles area to Astoria in the next week or two and need to replace my needle bearing - hoping someone here can recommend a mechanic in the Astoria or general area to replace it with the ECGS bushing. I'm driving around and have that vibration - is it okay to drive it with the vibes? Thanks!!!

Six States on Columbia in Portland can do it. They will be doing mine in a few weeks as well as regearing (4.88) and ARB rear locker.

    Hi
I just moved to the 97007 area of Oregon. I was looking to fully insure my Tacoma and liability on my other vehicle. USAA want a bit over $1000 every 6 months and All State wanted 840$ up front for 6 months. If monthly with All State it would be around 940ish. Is 97007 generally expensive? What insurance is best around here that will cover my after market parts? All State will only go up to 2000$. I had a brand new Range Rover in Ca and I was only paying 50-60$ a month fully covered!

Oregon has higher minimum insurance requirements than California, and insurance costs more here because of that. Increase your deductible to $1000. It will lower the rates considerably. I also have USAA, and pay half your quote for three vehicles full coverage and an RV, but I have perfect credit and have never made a claim.

Yea, I forgotten about the deductible part. Well I never gotten into an accident, have excellent credit, been with USAA for over 10 years, have accident forgiveness, 1000 deductable, full coverage on Taco, liability on wife's car, with 300k bodily and 100k on property (could be the other way around). It went down from 1055 for six months to 940. Plus USAA will pay up to an extra 20 percent if it's a total loss. I also have home owner insurance with them. I still think it's high, but 940 is easier to swallow compared to All State where I would need to pay in full to get the lower rate.

I'm just contributing to the convo ;) We reached up to 9 victims now. I have been 'better' now since Sunday, but I still have all-day headaches that need fighting.
