He’s a lover, not a fighter. Let a spike walk at 15 yards yesterday. Hope I don’t regret that haha

So... if you guys weren’t tracking. I posted before and was involved in a pretty nasty collision on I-5 near Tacoma. A Civic was rear ended so hard it hit the jersey barrier and flipped onto my Tacoma... USAA just released it to be a total loss and wants to give me just shy of $30k ($29,665).

Is this a fair value for the vehicle? If not, how do I go about having them give me more for it?

I’m assuming I can pull of my aftermarket parts, though this’ll be a question & answer from USAA but I’m guessing a few thousand in parts I can sell.

Any and all advice is welcomed, this is my first accident

Does the truck still drive and frame aligned?

If so (and not knowing all the details), I’d buy a new bed, install it and keep the left overs. If the frame is in question then of course that doesn’t apply. But from the pic it looks like nothing in front of the wheel well is damaged???

It does drive, the auto body shop told me no damage to the frame.

If I went that route, would I get the estimated repair cost ($18k) or the total loss cost ($30k)? Also that would salvage the title, yes?

I know some people have been able to take the full insurance payout having it totaled and then buy the truck back from insurance for a percentage of the payout. Find a bed you can buy, throw it on and good to go. The truck would then have a salvage title but you would probably have some cash to show for it in the end.

In VA you could get it inspected by the sherrifs department and it would absolve the salvage title

If you plan on keeping the truck “forever” then that’s the route I’d go

Just checking in. FNG from Eugene, land of the Prius

Wife drives one too so I can't really bitch about them too much.

Just picked up a new 18 last week. Have an OBS F250 extra cab 4x4 with the 460 that this is replacing. Haven't had a Toyota 4x4 since the wife got pregnant with the kid 28 years ago and we had to sell my 82 4x4 with buckets to step up to a sedan.

Anyway, looking forward to poking around up at Shotgun and down in Cottage Grove some.

    Cheers :drunk:

    Sadly, not much.
Anybody have (4) trd pro sema wheels in matte black for sale? Looking to upgrade! Waffling between the SCS SR8, but want to keep it Toyota. Looking to add 265 or 275 70/17 BFG's ko2's as well. Thought I would ask before I drop the $2,000 at the dealer...
