DC and Emmons are slogs but not exceptionally physically demanding. If you’ve done Baker/Adams/Hood in reasonable time, then you’re good.

Last weekend I saw some very gear-laden teams headed up to schurman at a brutally slow pace. You’ll want to be on lookout for those teams as they are one of your most realistic hazards. Maybe condition for some extra stamina to allow you to set a quick pace and pass them early—and leave before the midnight rush.

Also saw a pair of very ambitious, potentially over-confident East coasters headed for Liberty late day :/

Well, my wife just informed me for whatever reason that Mandy Moore just climbed Mt Everest...but she apparently had Eddie Bauer and the first American woman to ascend and descend Everest without oxygen with her. But she did it lol

Emmons is the planned route. Have you climbed it? With the last minute invite I'm wondering if I'm in good enough shape since I haven't done any mountain specific training. No idea of what I'm training will translate, I'd hate to be a liability. I'm a shit distance runner but can get on a rower or bike all day and have plenty of strength to go around.

DC, but I’ve been eyeing a quick mid-week Emmons “sick day”. I wander around the mountain looking for a good line like many TAYers (a few probably on this forum being Tacomas).

A lot of people use Big Si with 40lbs and try to be up in 90 minutes. (Add in the old trail). But I prefer normal hikes. Depends where you live but Mt Pugh is really solid. And Adams is perfect as it puts you in the same, generally safer, environment.

Camp white river one weekend and make multiple day hikes out to the Emmons?

Been a while since I TAY'd, life got in the way but I still find myself picking out lines as I'm traveling through areas.

Is anyone using a cargonet or something similar to secure the stuff in your bed when you're out on the trails? Looking for an easy way to keep by bins and gear from jumping/banging around.

I currently use motorcycle tie downs with L-track I have in the bed but am looking at a cargo net as an easier way - https://www.safaristraps.com/ seems like they have a lot of size options for decent prices.
