This thread and place (state) used to be the happening spot. But things have shifted to the expedition sections here and on FB. It now seems to be a more.. let's just meet somewhere and look at who ever has the most shit. I'm glad as a long time member that some of you get out and have fun!!

Hey guys, just got my new Tacoma here in Portland.

Where do you guys get your shocks put on at? Thinking of doing some 5100's all the way around to fit some 285/70/17s on. Or does anyone have a garage they do it themselves in? Did some stock wheeling around out by Estacada a couple weeks ago. These trucks are surprisingly capable without any mods.

Are you East side or Westside PDX ?

If East I would call up Wanderlust in Oregon City or West side call up Mach1

Serious question. I’m looking to buy private health insurance what’s the best for Oregon. Hawaii is way different when it comes to this stuff so I am at a lose

so random question, i know and understand that if insurance is replacing a damaged part in this instance a scratched wheel the auto body shop isn't suppose to give you the damaged part because it would be considered like theft or something since insurance paid for a new one... but can you buy it off them?

I'm not 100% sure, but the way I understood it was they have to show/give/provide you with the old part that was replaced to truthfully show that it was infact replaced and faulty, otherwise they could say whatever they wanted was replaced. :notsure:

If you are in the DIY crowd, but have no place or tools, I would recommend Gearhead Garage in Tigard. You can rent a lift and tools by the hour. The owner Mike is a really awesome guy too.

I'm East but nothing is really that far away. 4WP on 82nd said $2300 for the 5100s with an AAL with installation. That seemed super steep so I figured I'd call around or try and make some friends with a garage.

Sounds like a good time. I'll look into that too.

And 285/70r17s with the two inch lift should fit on the stock rims as well right?

You may be able to negotiate that with your shop. Brush up up the state insurance laws.

Many, many, years ago I was in the collision repair business and knew the ins and outs of WA state insurance laws. You could get an estimate from any reputable repair shop (Utter Cadillac was the most expensive east of the mountains) of your choice and then the insurance had to cut you the check. Then you could do the repair yourself, take it to someone else, or never have it fixed. The insurance companies didn't like that one bit. They would tell you you had to use one of their approved shops. False. They would tell you you needed more than one estimate from reputable shops. False. They would tell you they couldn't cut the check directly to you. False. The law was very clear in favor of the WA state consumer and policies have to conform to be sold in the state. The insurance companies would really really drag their feet and delay cutting checks but they eventually would. One time it took a call to the state Insurance Commissioner and a check was in the mail within 48 hours.

Trendsetters is supposed to be top notch. Pretty sure I got quoted $800 or so for 5100 with rear block.

The Offroad Shop out in Gresham is saying about $550 for the Headstrong Offroad 5100 kit with 888's and the icon 3 leaf. I'll take a look at Trendsetters also.

Thank you guys for the suggestions.

@Taka The Tacoma had one for sale recently, but I’m not sure if he sold it or not. He’s located in Kent.
