Hey guys. I’ve been a Tacoma world member for awhile and part of SoCal Tacomas. I haven’t had a Tacoma in a long while but the guys down here are are great guys and it hasn’t been an issue (just good teasing sometimes). My buddy and I are looking to get a place up around the Roseburg Oregon area. We are looking for possibly some decent off road Facebook groups or something to get a feel for that part Oregon.

Any suggestions would be great. We know the dunes on the coast off course but not much else. We have quads, bikes and trucks (fords hence the heckling).

For people asking for forest service roads to run outside of Seattle I decided to compile a list of my favorites
    1: Garcia (47.4219900, -121.6161280)
fun trail some mild rock crawling and a fun river cross leads up a mountain and has a good view lots of trails to explore 45 minutes away from Seattle 6A9B70C0-6387-4159-A776-960E9704A487.jpg
    2. Tonga ridge (47.6730798, -121.2939062)
lots of fun trails not as technical as Garcia but still plenty to be explored probably still pretty snowy near the top but the bottom has a lot to offer B8D609F8-262B-4D77-BE7E-87CFF1FC2FB1.jpg
    3: Stampede pass 1 hour 10 minutes away from Seattle (47.2854181, -121.3209835)
Probably has the most terrain out of all of these and you can find something as easy or as difficult as you want and these roads seem to less forever great views if you go on a clear day
    A01E8250-F314-4427-A1E0-81B3675E9431.jpg
    4: Mountain loop high way 1 hour and 30 minutes (48.0857489, -121.7603427)
Too many trails to choose just one I know Mt. Pilchuck has a bunch of side trails that are super fun but if you follow the highway further in there will be more technical tails
    7EF5DC01-B83A-421C-84B1-BC3E61099324.jpg
Those are the main ones that come to my head if you want more exact trail directions feel free to PM I’m also planning on running one of these this Sunday now that the trails are open so if you’d like to join just reach out!

Hey guys! My dad sold his Tundra and bought a 2014 Tacoma and wants to upgrade his headlight. Does anyone in here do retrofit headlights or know of someone who does? I figure we can use his OEM headlights to convert and just trying to get a rough estimate on cost. He keeps asking me about TacomaBeast & ProTuning Lab led headlights but I'm steering him away from those. Thanks!!

Kits for DIY, right? I don't know anything about lighting and don't have the craftsmanship to do so myself lol I'll butcher it or it'll just sit and collect dust. I ran OEM for 9 years until a couple years ago when I bought a set of pre-made retrofits. It was leftover batch and they were wanting to get rid of it believe. I was like "Ya looks good to me. Price looks good. Sold!" Haha but I swore someone offered their service up here in the PNW unless they did and moved already.

You could probably have an off road shop install them for you don’t see it being crazy expensive or just take the easy route and get the plug and play off Tacoma beast

There is a place in Issaquah by Mule's install location called H.I.D. Kit Pros that has a showroom full of options. They will do the install for you or you can buy everything there. The Retrofit source is where I got all my DIY stuff, but I have a 1st gen.

I am wanting to avoid TacomaBeast because I've read his headlights use LED and read that they don't perform as well as halogens or retrofit projectors with HID. Also read that they leak a lot causing condensation to build up.

Gotcha! That's quite out of the way for me. Sorry I should have mentioned my location. I'm in the Portland area. Now that you mentioned it I can check with the HID shop that I took my truck to when I was having lighting issues to see what other services they offer. Thanks!

Looking for a Waterfall around Eugene, OR to Drive to for Mothers Day.
It has become tradition to drive out to one on Mothers Day, but I am new to Oregon and only got my truck 2 weeks ago. So I am not very knowledgeable on the roads around here.
I wanted to find a nice one that I can get to with the State Parks Closed, so that I can take a pic and text it to the Mom on Sunday. Any ideas? My truck is still stock so nothing crazy... yet ;-)

Best bet would be Salt Creek Falls. You may have to park outside the gate and walk in, but it’s totally worth it.

Rebranded crap. Some LEDs will outperform factory halogen like the quad led lights for 3rd gens. But any upgraded halogen, factory led or HID lights will outperform those. @crashnburn80 has a huge write up on upgrading halogens without needing a projector swap if you're okay with buying bulbs more often than not.

They don't use LEDs, they use poor quality halogen projectors, which then people then often put LEDs in because the performance is so poor. But since the projector is poor to begin with, and LEDs perform poorly in good projectors, the poor performance is compounded. People typically need to switch to HID to get useable light out of them, but that really isn't the right answer.

For 2nd Gen you'd want to do the halogen upgrade mentioned earlier, or look at a proper HID retrofit. And by proper I'd advise using 'real' HID projectors and bulbs like D2S, not the H1 rebased halogen type that no reputable lighting brand makes.

Thanks guys! I was able to talk him out of the TacomaBeast/ProTuningLab headlights. I'll for sure check out that sticky thread in 2nd gen forum in regards to the ultimate headlight upgrade.
