This just happened to me as well. I siliconed where I felt the water was entering the cowl.
    1. The TSB for the leak in the cowl. You can look that up and test it if all else fails.
    2. It could just be a plugged/leaking drain hose from the heater box.
    3. You could be getting water in there through the cabin air intake (many of us have had this problem which gives you a serious amount of water in there in a short period of time...usually from a heavy downpour). This last one is the culprit if you turn the heater fan on and it blows water out the vents. It's caused by junk getting between the cowl and the windshield which lets water just go straight down into your fan. If this is the culprit, I can point you to some pics of someone (besides myself) who recently had this problem too.

    Couple ideas

Wires through your firewall carrying it in
    Plugs under your seats
    If moonroof/sunroof clogged drain(s)
    Ac drain port clogged
    Bad weatherstripping

Or if you are as lucky as me, youll find out its the windshield seal. Guy is coming out tomorrow

have any of you done a retrofit conversion for your headlights? I used to be that guy with HIDs in standard housings but I changed back to halogens a while ago and now i really want to go back to HIDs but would like to do them correctly. I am terrible with electronics/wiring and dont believe i have the skills to do a retrofit on my own. is there anyplace that sells a complete drop in?

Yes but expensive. Easy to do wiring. I believe alignment on 2nd gens is the difficult variable

i know a complete retrofit is a little pricey, but im not too concerned about price. i just want to do it correctly this time and im a little lost when it comes to lighting/projectors.

does it not require any cutting? i dont trust myself with a dremel that needs precise cutting.

sucks that the 4runner forum is much less active that TW, i cant find a nice write up for a 4th gen 4runner.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Yep. But it'll be different as I have a 1st gen. Lots of cutting the housing in my situation.

Stick with TRS and all will be well.

And kudos to wanting to do it right! My Honda still has 15 year old HIDs in stock housings. Blindation Nation!

they have a picture of an FJ on their website, but no matter what model year i pick, i cannot find Toyota in their dropdown menu.

sorry to ask a basic question but do you have run down on the parts i would need? every thread i can find has bunch of acronyms, makes it hard to read through...

i think im going to end up just getting a second housing so i can take it slow.

Called a mechanic and explained it to him. He said it could be a clogged drain hose but I ran out of time today. Pulled carpet and kick panel and the water is only in the floorboard area. Can't find any water trails either. I'm off wed so if i can't figure it out by then I'll take it in so he can look at it. Looks like it's coming from near the door but its pooled up near the center console.

Plugs all seem to be there and intact. The carpet leading up to the firewall is dry so it doesn't seem to be coming from up above.

Weren't there some issues with windshields leaking? If it was mine, I'd have somebody run garden hose on it while you sat inside looking for water...
