Dude, Jonnie! What's up? Plan for that Taco sounds awesome! A lot of the older members aren't active much on this thread anymore (I think a lot of them went to a FB group). I lurk the craigslist thread and post mainly in the photography & mma thread.

anyone one scuba dive in this thread? I am trying to find other dive buddies to go with. I was going with some JBLM dudes but most are older and cannot stand my potty mouth. I would like to camp/dive lake crecent, clear lake or and a few places if anyone is up for it.

Has anyone in the Portland area done the cam gear upgrade on their 2nd gen? I just ordered a set and will probably install in a few weeks. It seems pretty easy, but I was hoping to have a local resource to hit up in case I hit any snags.

    Hey Bud,

sorry it took so long to reply. Had some issues selling the white truck and I wanted to stay off anything public having to do with it until it was “gone”. I’m in the 1st gen Tacoma’s Facebook group, bunch of noobs in there asking dumb ass questions lol.

so turns out the white Tacoma was kinda a lemon. And I lost money on it. Had previously been wrecked, bent frame, lots of bondo work, shitty paint job, hidden dents, bad radiator, wrong spark plugs, list goes on and on.

Meanwhile, I went and bought a 9/10 Tacoma. Picked up at a dealer in WA, brought it home and realized it has TRD headers . Already looking at axles.

ask my wallet about my modifications...
Visited Vince at Mach1 Motorsports twice since the start of 2021 and can't say enough good thing about him. Pricing was very reasonable.
Now that I'm garage-less, I had him install my lift (Front and AAL) along with ECGS bushing and plan on heading back when I'm ready for UCA's when needed.
Great guy and highly recommended if you need a Mechanic on the west side of Portland (Hillsboro).

Nice! I have them bookmarked on my computer for quite some time now but haven't reached out to them due to other priorities. Glad to hear the positive experience with the company.

No worries on the late reply. Throws me off when I see old member post stuff lol Your old truck sounds like a headache and glad you were able to get rid of it. That's a clean looking 1st gen! I used to have a damn near identical 1st gen. Right now I plan to do some major maintenance + suspension upgrade in hopes to last me another 160k miles and get me a daily car. Not sure of what yet but I'm eyeing a couple from Lexus and one from Toyota.

Best thing i ever did was get a daily car (6 speed TDI). So my original thought when 1 ton swap, hydo assist, detroits, 3 link,40s yada yada... But, i've got a sweet deal on a build waggy 44 which would allow me to keep my rear taco axle. I'd stick to 37s, leaf spring the front, which overall would be a much cheaper option. The question lies if it will be enough, or if i would soon regret not going big in the first place. Goal is to start the build this summer, and collect parts in the mean time.

I am doing the same. Tundra is getting expensive. I kind of want the new Corolla hatchback hybrid (save it for the kid when he gets to age), or an older Scion iM (same thing as Corolla)

Can never pass up on a sweet deal when it's in your favor! Once you start your build and decide to get rid of those wheels let me know :D

What's up Brady! My bro in law has a Tundra too and he loves that thing. Corolla is coming out with a GR version, aren't they? I know they came out with a hatchback version but didn't know it was hybrid.

Love the Tundra and the size. Hate the gas mileage at 13mpg when I have a 70 mile round trip commute. We're torn on what kind of car to get. Older beater civic, or a newer one. Scion iM, corolla iM, or the new corolla. I'd love a Tesla or the new Rivian truck... Just can't justify the price
