The Death Valley trip continues - Goler Wash, Charcoal Kilns, Mahogany Flat, Panamint Valley, South Pass, and Saline Valley - quite the day.

Return to Death Valley - Day 3

...As I crawled into the tent, a warm light breeze and quiet
sounds of the desert lulled me to sleep quickly. Even if
the springs weren't the amazing destination that they used to be,
the desert itself made up for it - that was for sure.

Little did I know that as I slept change was afoot...

A lot transferred to FB, and us oldsters are lazier/busier than the past.

Let's pull some OGs together on a Friday night or weekend and find an answer. Who out there could throw down for a brew? I can be pretty mobile these days for where we want to meet.

Facebook was some of it but I think all the kids huffing plasti dip and stacking lightbars on top of each other really thinned out the crowed.

Washed my truck today and did a vacuum and wipe on the inside. Now my airbag light is on - any reason to what may have caused it? Where to start looking? Everything is still connected under the seat. Not sure where else to look.

Your blinkers work? If one of the acc fuses in the cab blows your blinkers/ lights won’t work and the airbag light will turn on

Did you tilt your steering wheel a few times during your inside cleaning?

My air bag light has been intermittent for the last few months, but just this week it has been illuminated solid. It comes on within a few minutes of start up. Haven't researched it yet but now that you've brought it up it reminded me.

Mine came on awhile back, searched and it's a possible broken ribbon cable in the steering column. Shit thing is only way to know is have dealer check for it, unless someone has a way I haven't read. I'd call your local dealer to see if they have one in stock and have them check to see if it's the issue. If it is the issue it's a free replacement, if not.... Well it's gunna cost for whatever they find/time to find issue

Yeap, blinkers still work along with the lights.

Yes sir I tilt it once all the way down to do a quick wipe and then tilt it all the way up like how I always have it.

Let me know what you come up with. I read something about a spiral cable aka clock spring? I believe there's a recall on certain years too.

Ugh, dealership. I'm going to d/c the battery tomorrow for a bit to see if it'll clear it. If not, dealership it is. I hope they don't harass me about the gas pedal cutting issue, reflashing, and the frame.

You can decline all of that Joe. They can't make you fix shit lol.

Try the battery and See, if it comes back just go in. Against since it involves a safety system, if the ribbon cable broke it won't cost you anything but a hour of your time

I was to understand if the ribbon cable breaks, the horn, steering wheel controls and cruise control also stop working. My horn and cruise work still. Unsure about the swc since they're not hooked up to my new head unit currently.

Will do! Man, I hope that's all the time it'll take worse comes to worse.

I saw that too about the horns and cruise and such. My cruise stopped working a few weeks ago. It worked fine since I've owned my truck since '09 but I noticed within the last year the cruise would be a hit or miss. Either the light won't come on to be activated or when I deactivate cruise control the indicator stays on. Haven't tried the horn or steering wheel controls. Guess I'll find out in the morning :D
