guys..need your brains. My radio/hvac controls will basically turn off/reboot randomly. If my headlights are on i can watch the illumination in the hvac panel flicker which tells me my radio is about to die. Next is the radio reboots, the hvac panel goes dead for about 1sec, then all good for some random amount of time. Somehow the power for the HVAC and radio harness are integrated somewhere behind the dash. Ive torn the ever living hell out of the dash to find any loose wire, plug, pin, ground that i can possibly trace that goes to both the radio and hvac panel. Im at a loss and searching here and the google only brings up 3rd gen issues and 2nd gen RADIO issues only. Im stumped and its really starting to piss me off. I only drive my tuck like one day every month basically and would like my siht to work when i do haha.

EDIT: Aftermarket stereo. Installed back in 2009 and never had an issue until this month, except one random time like last year or the year before.

Didn't notice any moisture in the dash at all anywhere, but also wasnt really looking fkr it. hasn't rained for a long time here, so it's hard for me to guess that would be it.

Hey guys! Need help with my HID headlights. Bought a set last year from a GB here on TW and they've been working flawlessly until Saturday. The driver side has been turning off by itself. It'll turn back on when I switch off the headlights and switch them back on but it goes out intermittently. At first I thought the rough road was the cause of it ( I've been out hunting) but last night while sitting idled at a red light the driver side turned off again. The amber light still works - it's just the lights don't.

I emailed the company and they said they'll mail me a new ballast Thursday. I made sure all connections are snug. What can be causing this and what can I do for troubleshooting? I'm not a light/wiring expert.

    Thanks!

    EDIT
I should mention they're Retrofit Projectors.

My 96 Taco makes gurgling noises from behind the dash like water bubbles in the heating system. Anyone else experience this? No heating or cooling problems just hear water gurgling in the hoses or heater core...

Probably a bad ballast. If you swap them (pas->driver driver->pas) then see if the problem persists on the other side. If it does, it's a ballast. If not, swap bulbs next and see what happens.

That can happen normally.. but Id check to see if you're coolant level is a little low.

Well everyone made it over to Seattle okay. Bulldog made the flight just fine which was my biggest worry. We drive down to Portland for a few days of break and then I head East for a few months. Can’t wait to be back over here as quick as possible.

    Thanks for the reply fellas!

I've been hunting for the past 4 days and then I'm back to work the next couple days, 12 hour shifts, so no real time to mess with it quite yet. I just swapped them out and put my OEM ones back on for now. I'm not sure if they're soldered or not as I bought a whole set from the company. All i did was take off my old headlights, plug stuff into place, and made it work but I'm sure they did some sort of soldering  Is your thought maybe there is a bad solder somewhere? The company said they'll send me a new ballast Thursday when he gets back into town so if the problem persist after the new ballast I'll have to swap the bulb out and see where that leads to.

My first gen does this from time to time, start it up cold with the radiator cap off and let it run long enough to warm up(until the thermostat opens) and let it run a few more minutes. it will purge excess air out of the cooling loop.

Fantastic, figured I couldn't be the only one having this issue. I'll give that a try and report back. Thanks

I'll have to give it a try too as my 2005 does that. Bought a new radiator cap too.

If you're in Portland, we could show you around a few breweries, while we still have some that are not closing!

First I heard of breweries closing—had a heart palpitation. Wasn’t all that shocked when I found a list of the shuttered breweries, tho. Nobody will miss those places. We have much, much better choices now. Wouldn’t be surprised if McMenamins joined the list, either.
