The gasket stuff snowgod is talking about is called RTVand looks like this

Don't put that stuff on your diff. You don't want to mix it with the stock gasket. The gasket needs two solid metal surfaces on each side to apply a even amount of pressure to it. Putting RTV in there can allow for small holes due to its uneven surface. Make sure your torque your bolts opposite of each other too. I'd change it yourself with just the gasket. Use a scotch pad real good on the gasket areas when you take the RTV off. You want a clean metal to gasket surface. :)

If you don't owe on it, why not buy a 2nd gen and mod that. Or atleast buy a trailer and tow yours to the beach and rally that thing knowing you have a DD to get ya around.

2nd Gens really don't have that many more problems than 1st gens. 1st gens don't walk on water.

One is not better than the other. They're just completely different trucks. I could use the search feature and find you at least 5 different threads comparing 1st and 2nd gens.

The only two problems that routinely come up on the 2nd gens are the squeaky throwout bearing (manual tranny only) and a squeaky blower fan. Whoop-di-do.

Lol. The 1st gen has a ton of plastic too. It's just thinner plastic on the 1st gens. ;)

My bro gave me a $30 gift card for Amazon... so I of course go and buy $120 worth of hi-lift gear and a tire gauge at midnight. What the heck?

Does the rear DC->AC inverter stay energized when you place the truck in Drive? I'm thinking about putting some Xmas lights on my sliders and bed for the next couple weeks. Kind of feel like getting into the flow of things...

Yes it does, though I think it reduces the wattage... but still enough to run lights. Just make sure you get lights that aren't going to get you in trouble with ol' papa bear :p I think you can run white or possibly non-blinking orange on the body, white on grille, and red on rear.

I might do the same idea, it's badass
