Yeah PDX tuned a Subie of mine back when there was no shop and it was out of a couple houses. They are very good and super cool people. I used to visit RalliTech when it was off Milwaukie Ave...forgot some names of the guys there, but that was a really good shop at one point, no clue now days been to long.

Why an Evo? I've had every almost every variant of the Impreza (except after '08) so it was time to try something new and really felt that the Evo had a better suspension, is more tunable, and is more of scalpel and less of a sledgehammer. Why the RS? It was just a raw personal preference with 1 point of being tracked and auto-x. FWIW STi transmission was leaps and bounds better feeling.

At this point if we got rid of the wifes Corolla we would go with the STi just to not be in the Evo crowd, plus STi/WRX comes in a hatch, less build issues (ie seats and body trim on the Evo X)...not to say Subie does that have their quirks as my '04 STi was one of the early ones from May 2003 and it had tune issues from the factory.

Deck plate, all time auxillary, black billet, xeon bulbs, sockmonkey decals, and lots of back to black.
It doesn't take much for them to be flagged. Use of photobucket, or adding keywords, or using multiple cities often does me in.

Hey guys. When I get back from this deployment there's a possibility I can go to Yakima WA or Fort Lewis WA. Any input on the areas? I'm a pretty big outdoors person i.e. camping, rafting, hiking, rock climbing, wheeling etc. But also looking for good all around area i.e. city/town, neighborhoods etc.

I will be purchasing a 5-door STi (quit calling them hatches! ) if my next rig after this one isn't a truck.

I'll be getting a dog soon and having a dog cover over my back seat in my current car is not going to be my favorite. But I'm sure as hell not subjecting those seats to dog claws. 5-door FTW.

Anyone in here interested in a silver snugtop canopy for a second gen? I don't like mine and it is taking up too much space in my parents garage..... Few blemishes and I'm not knowledgeable about salvaging the wires that run through my bedsides but I want to get rid of this thing.

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.

I'd say living in Yakima would give you better access to all those outdoorsy type things. :)

Several years back Vivid Racing posted pics of their STI or Evo that had a sick rotty in it, it was horrible poop all over the place. If they would have only put a blanket down. You got the 4R for dog duty! Or you can get a moving blanket that looks decent and use it for the cushion. So what breed you thinking about getting?

Oh you ever figure out your coolant leak on the 4R? I had one on my 22RE, it ended up being some line that comes out of the head I think...been a bit since I had the truck. Went thru a couple kinks on that engine, but some cheap parts and she's still running on the coast with over 300k. I kick myself for selling it to my old roommate.

Well we might be giving/cheaply selling the car to a cousin who is turning 16 this summer.

I'd like to have her driving the truck more since she likes being up high, but yea she'd drive both...we've been down the curbing road and she's leaned to avoid it.

Getting a German Shorthaired Pointer. I'm allergic to most dogs but I've worked with a GSP for the last couple years and seem to get by without any reactions.

It's too bad though. People seem to be thinking that GSP's are the new Labs. I see them all over the place now. Don't care though. Pointers that point AND retrieve are still the most bad ass thing ever.

The 4R would be my dog rig if I felt like driving the 4R for longer trips. But I don't. It would handle it fine but I would rather be in the more comfortable - my STi.

I bought a new radiator for the 22RE. And realized I didn't quite tighten down the upper hose - it's brand new and really stiff. Seems to be okay now. I still have some really persistent air caught in the system though. :( The heater core gargles every time I start the truck cold.

Go to Yakima if you want a break in a training area, go to Lewis if you want to go back to trashcanistan. Went to redstone with you EOD douchebags (missile guy), and know you fockers deploy a lot. Lewis is pretty ghetto too, gang problems on post etc.

Pretty sure Top Gear calls them hatches. If so, I think that makes it a valid title.

Agreed on the Lewis part, only cuz I read the paper and Lewis has had some pretty bad issues lately. However, Lewis sits a bit south of Tacoma, so there's stuff to do both urban and outdoor.

Yakima is complete rural, much less city areas. The city itself has its own ghetto problems as well.

    my summary:
Yakima for more outdoors, MUCH less city
    Lewis for more city
    Lewis base is bad
    Yakima base is ??
Yakima city dwelling is not great
Lewis city dwelling is pretty good I'd think
