I've never had a problem with windows, and now every so often mine will act up. I just had to replace the battery on my dell after having it for only 2 years. Dell told me the life span of their batteries was 18-24 months. Fuck that. 136 bucks every 2 years for a battery. Gets old and expensive

I'm leaning more towards the mac :) Not sure why. Daughters mom has one and I've used it a few times..who knows. If I find a cheaper, decent deal on acer or something then I'll jump on it..

What kind of camera do you have? And what kind of glass? I'm pretty new to the whole photography scene..maybe later once I get better with the whole aperature settings and shutter speed and iso I may upgrade and spend a little more than what I am comfortable with.

How is TN BTW? I assume you're stationed at that base right there that's on the border of TN and what ever state is next to it...Kentucky I'd like to say? I went there to pick up my daughter back in May and daughters mom lived on Foxtrot Dr or w/e. Thought it was cool how you can drive accross the road and be in another state lol

Macs will last longer and the battery life is about 8 hours with a full charge depending on what you're doing.

    Mac FTW!

I have all pro Nikon gear. D700, Nikkor lenses. 14-24 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8. With a few extra accessories here and there.

Well TN is better than Kuwait which is where I am currently lol. It hasn't been too bad I guess but can't wait to get out of there. I've been there for 4 years now and really need a change. Not a whole lot of outdoors stuff to do. Wanting to move to Washington I think. Having been there a few times, family there, a better unit (if I go to Yakima), and more to do I think I might like it.

And yeah it's kinda crazy living next to the border but there isn't really a whole lot on the KY side lol. Two good gun stores, a walmart, and that's about it.

Joe, you don't have to waste money on bad glass and then buy all over again when you get better. Better glass is better glass no matter the settings.
Unless it's a pretty wide prime, I always opt for image stabilization
You can get some deals on Craigslist
I try to keep away from anything that isn't canon (or nikkor if you are playing in the other camp), the difference is pretty big.
I wouldn't get too caught up with tooling with settings and shooting manual in fear you won't 'get it right'. It's more about composition and paying attention to your light. The camera does an amazing job these days of guessing the right setting, and most times you go into more manual settings only to fine tune. If you go out to Ken Rockwell's site, he has a handy guide on how to tweak the camera a bit and shoot in P mode (for canons, he does better tuning for nikons). He's way better than I am, and if he's advocating keeping it auto, well it's probably good for me too

On the topic of vanity, can you update my pic too? This (^^^) was the day after I bought. Granted it's still pretty close to stock, I think this picture better represents what it looks like now. I'm not a frequent poster, so I apologize if I'm not in the top-tier upper elite, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks Zach, now my truck doesn't look so inferior to the other guys'. Either way, it still a Tacoma and can outperform 90% of the other trucks out there.

He's got some good tips/tricks.. I personally am on the Nikon side of this, my parents had an old film Nikon that got me into photography and this last year they bought me a new SLR because they were tired of me stealing theirs.... I'm looking at getting a wide angle lens with my tax return :D
