Yeah, that's something that I will hopefully not have to deal with. As the saying goes "cross that bridge when we get there". I just hope I never get there, and if I do, I'll just have to go fast enough to completely destroy the front beyond recognition.

Shit! You drive your truck at the mall, you got bawls man. I'm too scared to try that: door dings, shopping carts, bird poo, dust. There's just too many risks.

What a dick! That charge carries a stiff max. penalty! I got questioned for doing this in my old neighborhood, since I had a lifted truck with mud tires. I kindly told the cops to fuck right off, and grabbed my tape measure to compare the tread widths...and I let them know my Baja Claws would've done far more damage than that....they were not amused.

Any fellow Oregonians buying 2012 Tacos recently?

How much over (or under) "invoice" are you guys paying?
I'm in the market and best I could get my local dealer down to was $400 over invoice before I had had enough of the "let me go ask my sales manager" BS.

Where are you shopping? I went to Wilsonville Toyota for mine Tacoma. They didnt budge at all. But it was the best price I found. You deal with one person and one person only the entire time. I highly recommend them.

EDIT: Found all my original stuff.

Go to Royal Moore and talk to Erik Brigham, he was excellent. His price was $100 over invoice

I actually ended up buying through an auto broker, but the price would have been the same - just different fees and discounts here and there.

    Invoice price 27,658
    Royal Moore Markup $100
    Auto broker fee $50
    Standard fees $218
Toyota had a rebate going at the time, -$500
Recent college graduate discount (good student) -$400

Final price in my driveway was $27,126

EDIT: Keep in mind this was 2008, things change

This was at Wheeler Toyota in Grants Pass. Down here there's Wheeler and Lithia...and Lithia won't budge at all.

As far as Costco price is concerned, the sales manager told me that $400 over invoice was the same as the Costco deal, which would have made the truck I was looking at (DCSB 4x4 TRD OR with Tow/DRL and no JBL or Entune) $31,141 + DMV fees. $31k + DMV is the max I'm willing to spend.

This was for their test drive demo truck with ~250 miles on it...while I was test driving it the salesman told me to gun it then slam on the brakes...there was a nice skid mark left by the left rear tire...

Tacomas are in such high demand right now that dealerships know they don't have to budge because people will pay their asking price

Sounds like I wouldn't buy from them at all if they are encouraging hard driving and asking you to buy their 'worst' one for new price. Mine had 8 miles on it when it arrived. 2 or 3 of those miles were from my own test drive.

That hasn't changed since 1995. I wanted to buy used, but at the time it seemed to me 1st gens were overpriced, and the best deal on a used 2nd gen was an '07 AC Sport that was $3,000 and 25k miles more than my new truck.
You just have to shop around and be patient. The only times I've really heard where you couldn't get deals was the first Prius (waiting list) and the first few years of the Honda CRX (used prices were more than new)

Weird, family just picked up a long bed TRD sport 4x4 with JBL Entune stuff... For 31K on the money with costco deal. Also I'd get a truck with less then 5 miles on it if possible. The one's with 100-300 miles on the lot have been beat up via joy rides

Maybe the OR cost a couple more dollars. Either way that is the best deal you'll get. At least there is no sales tax!

The truck has been sitting there for weeks.
Talking to another dealer who said he could beat it.
    We'll see.

When I do finally find the right deal I'll be looking forward to some trail runs and meets.
