well.. the most recent one i seen was caused by the drive trying to make a light. Most are driver error from speed or what not. your looking at 48-60k lbs not counting truck and trailer. So they can be a little tippy. The one of ours that rolled was caused from shitty gravel shoulder. Driver stopped to let another truck out, gravel shoulder gave way and thats all she wrote haha.

This year has been bad for everyone, we bought 4 new balers. And lets just say their 500k paper weights. Nothing but problems all year, so bad that the company flew people here from kansas to work on them. YET, they have no idea whats wrong. Things keep getting worse. Luckily were moving into wheat so should have less problems now. (knocks on wood)

All the large bale balers I've seen look brand spankin new. Has everyone switched to large bales? I haven't seen a single field with the smaller ones

    Man, that sucks..

Enjoying the pictures and your posts - pretty much the same as harvesting fish from the sea.

Murphy's Law - "Anything mechanical will break at the worst possible time. Period."

First tow of the season, fresh out of the shipyard in Reedsport - we find out that two o the main bearings for our stern net reel are out of alignment. Keep in mind that these are $10k roller bearings supporting a 12" SS shaft...that in turn sees loads of 100 tons or more. Big deal.

Response from the shipyard was: "Oh, that.. It's normal, just grease it a lot."

    Nice.

    Good luck! More pictures!

yea, a lot of people of the winter bought new balers. For every one big baler, they replace 3 little 3 tie ones. More cost effective in the long run. We run 9 this year, 4 are the new ones which only have about 2500 bales made. Which is about 5 days worth lol, and the shitty part. But, harvest is almost done so i dont care anymore lol

Continuing on the bad news trip, Dad's work has to follow the electrical code of what type of wire they use on certain projects. Anyway, Dad found out that the supplier sent the wrong spool of 5-strand wire, and asked if his coworker had been using it on any projects. Sure enough, it had been used to wire a few blocks of lights downtown, and now they have to rip it all out and redo the whole thing. Just laying out the wire takes a full week.

So my dad wants to rebuild a scout for my son when he turns 16 (15 1/2 years from now). It was my first vehicle. I have two options for him up here...

    http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/3969680419.html
800 bucks for 2 parts. Going to end up spending a lot of cash getting it to a show style or an off road rig.

    OR
    http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/3967850485.html
Already built. Minor work to be done. I can take it off road after a quick inspection on it. I won't be spending 10k on parts for it within a few years.

Well the above sentence says your dad wants to built one....
If you buy the orange one you won't be building it because it's done.

If you buy the junker you'll have 15 years to customize every inch of it and you can actually say you guys built it.

I want the second one. I had a '62 in HS. I left for basic training and my dad sold it and my '69 Impala SS with the 427 in it. I never saw a dime :(

But, I would rather change something existing for less in the long run. Plus, I am not sure how bad the rust is. How bad are the axles? The gears? Engine, tranny and frame? Are the floor pans gone?

Well then if you just want a scout that is in good order buy the orange one ;)

but if you want to build one for your boy, obviously you have to buy one that's run down.

No. I'm going to wait for my dad to say what he would rather work on. He is just finishing up my moms 65 mustang. He also has a '72 gto with a 402 in it for a track car. Takes it to Woodburn drags a lot.

As soon as he frees up space, or chooses I will go scope it out.
