Life keeps getting better (don't miss the sarcasm). A couple days ago my youngest brother texted me on my work phone. He told me I can bring him $2000 and apologize for ruining his marijuana plants. I responded by telling him he should get a lawyer. Later I texted him saying my wife and I don't want him on our property, and if he is then that is trespassing and we would call police, and finished it by asking if he understood.

Tonight, one of his pothead friends knocked on my front door about 7:40. I immediately recognized him and saw he was holding a piece of paper. He asked if I am Zach Thomas, and I replied nope. He asked me if I was sure. I told him I was sure and for him to take off. Within a minute I had on shoes, a spotlight, and the one gun I have in the house, being a BB gun. I saw a car at the end of the driveway that was pulling out.

I will be sleeping light tonight. Just to try and help prevent cars coming in, I put a metal windmill on its side at the end of the driveway. I can't see the end of the driveway from my house so it could be a long night.

Maybe notifying police to make a few extra patrols in the neighborhood for suspicious activity-- maybe they catch some of his pothead friends nearby in a car planning something :notsure:

I think it's time for you to invest in a firearm... tomorrow.

You should call your brother. I've found throat punches followed by noogies and embarrassing stories around their friends keeps them in line.

I don't know the whole backstory with your bro, but don't let his decision to be a stoner ruin your relationship - unless it's truly jeopardizing your family. I have gotten into seriously brutal fist-fights with my older brother over guitars, fries that spilled o- the carpet, girlfriends, etc. but we are still best friends.

currently visiting college buddies in klamath falls this weekend so responses are really going to be slow. lots has been changing around here, wubbas is the only local restaurant I remember going to, the college built about 3 new buildings, and all my profs are retiring.

    ladee :
just caught the brief news on it.
I think its out near Estacada.
that video I posted looked alright, but there's another one of an xterra getting flooded, so submarines recommended this time of year possibly.

Portland Zach - your old bumper was mashed since I've known you, lol

Washington Zach - time to put a cap on the drama.
tell your brother that his life decisions are ruining him and the family, and you don't want to be any part of his life until things change. the way you handled the pipes was not the way to do things (if that really could have killed him, then attempted murder is never an answer. you could have just broken the stuff). if he wants money, simply say you aren't paying without a legal order.
getting a gun does not instantly put you in the right to shoot anyone who comes up the driveway or make problems go away. guns are a last resort and you should be trained when to use them. take a class.
most of all, distance yourself from those problems. if your mom is going to continue enabling your brother and wont listen, that's now her problem and she's going to wake up on her schedule when she's ready.

My uncle was the same as your brother. possibly saw harder stuff than your brother. lived in harder places. mooched plenty of money from my grandparents with his hard times stories.

until I was in my late 20s, I probably saw less than 48 hours of my uncle. he finally turned a corner during these last few years.

Im curious as to what the paper said. Was he trying to make you think hes a process server or something?

I know you and your brotbrother obviously dont agree, but im a strong believer in burning bridges before it gets too bad. Especially with good friends and family you never know how much longer you have with them.

Dont mean to sound morbid or anything, just my opinion from past experiences.

Woah woah woah nobody said shoot anybody. When we, or at least when I said get a gun.. I said that as a last resort effort to protect himself and his wife. If people (especially sketchy ones) are coming up to your house knowing you just destroyed thousands of dollars worth of pot plants that maybe they had a share in?-- maybe tens of thousands of dollars worth of pot plants? Then yeah who knows what people will do, granted I know they're "just potheads" but people are unpredictable.

    More back story on things:
Kid brother, Matthew, has been smoking pot for at least a couple years now. He is currently 19 and still lives with Mom. Mom told him not to smoke, not to have pot, etc. Matthew did as he saw fit which was to go get high with the former neighbor kid whose mom was also a pothead. My mom is the type to avoid confrontations and fighting by going to work and not deal with problems until they are already at critical mass. Matthew's continued use of pot has worn my Mom down to the point of saying no pot in the house. Matthew's answer was to smoke in a back part of the shed. This worsened to him bringing his friends back there to smoke and he now has his grow setup back there, sucking down electricity at Mom's cost.

My spraying of his bongs and plants was childish, but I am the first one to do anything to truly do something to stop him. I don't know the dollar value of his plants, and in talking to some of my neighbors, it sounds like there is a fluctuating market rate based on the plant. I texted my older brother to let him know Matthew was growing after I had sprayed all the garbage, and he replied back for me to not do anything and that Matthew just needs a brother right now. I disagree. Matthew needs to find his own place to live which puts responsibilities on him. Right now, the kid pays for gas in his car and insurance. No wonder he can afford to replace his wheels.

As for the paper that Matthew's friend had last night, I am sure it has something to do with taking me to court for destroying his plants. One thing that crossed my mind is that Judge Judy deals with small claims, and this could be great material for her show. Matthew's dad was on Judge Judy years ago as well. I almost called Matthew to say that if he takes me to court, maybe we could be on Judge Judy like his dad.

As for getting a real gun, I do want one, however not really for this. If I were really looking to have a gun, a friend of mine has several and lives about 20 minutes away. I don't believe Matthew or any of his friends have access to a gun that easily. The BB gun works well enough for now.

Anyway, I am going to Mom's house soon to talk to her. I let Matthew know via text message earlier this week that I would be there today. I just found out from mom last night that he is at work today but he didn't bother to mention that to me.

okay, serious question time. I just got my 315/75/r16 nittos, and I have allpro front long travel kit with spindle gussets. I need either a 16in wheel with enough backspacing to push the tire away from the gussets or spacers. With my 285s there is like a millimeter of space. Should I opt for some spacers or new wheels?

Nice, I thought you got Terra grapplers. I like the Trails though.

I would get some .75" / 1" hub-centric spacers. That'll be your easiest and least expensive option. I haven't had any issues with mine.

    crap bolted and welded together....
ive been pinching pennies for the AP kit. What i read is you need 17's, with 4.5 backspacing to have no issues. BUT...as senior ben stated, 1'' spacers should solve your issues.

yea that was my bad, totally got their names mixed up lol. it was a killer deal I just couldn't pass it up even though its going to be an ass pain to get them to fit! I ordered some spacers so that should fix the problem. Now I need to find a Tire shop that will install with spacers

As long as you got ADAPTERS and not SPACERS (both SpiderTrax and BORA are adapters) pretty much any tire shop should be alright with them. I know for a fact that the Discount Tire by the movie theater off the freeway in Tacoma, and the one off exit 109 in Lacey will work with them.

One thing I would do however, would be to mount the adapters prior to going to the tire shop so that they don't have to install them, just mount the tires on them.

For reference, a spacer does not have it's own lug nut studs, and will lower the number of threads actually securing your wheel (bad) whereas an adapter will have it's own studs, and not lower the number of thread securing the wheel (good).

I bought Hub centric spacers, not lug centric so I think I should be good. And I went with all pro

As long as they have their own studs, which yours do, you'll be fine.

I run 1/2" spacers with no problem, but I also have longer ARP wheels studs as well. I don't think the stock length studs are long enough even without spacers, especially for aftermarket aluminum wheels. Oh and I love those trail grapplers! My wife runs them on the Dmax and they really work well.
