    Hmm..

There's about 1,000 ways to do the same thing..

I'm going to butcher the explanation without a picture; but I'll try.. Try to find a single chain link - nothing crazy - just big enough that the screw to the winch drum will pass through it. Tuck splice the link of chain to the rope.. Shoot, you could probably even just electrical tape a loop in the end. The main objective is that the chain will serve as an attachment point for the end of the winch line..

I know that "most" people say that you should leave 2 wraps. I say at least 5. That's just me. I've seen failures on 25 Ton winches due to not enough wraps on the winch drum. Not fun. In my opinion if you're pushing the reach on your winch that far; you need a winch extension.

As always, I'm not an expert; just providing a little input based off of my experience..

The way the line connects is not like a warn or supper winch. It's weird and stupid. Probably should have waited till to tomorrow to post. It's 28 outside. I'll deal with it tomorrow. Trying to put your line on meow. Been sitting on it forever due to this ordeal. Too fresking cold to do squat and my garage has no heat.

So is that just the same as Pendleton wool?

FYi, I score my wool from value village. Bought some merino wool for $30 on one of my finds, probably the most expensive bit of clothing the stores ever sold lol

Not to go full metal yuppie..

    http://www.filson.com/products/tin-jacket.10007.html

I finally picked one up recently - wanted one for quite a while. Awesome stuff. Especially since they're still made right in Seattle. Not cheap, but I'm a fan of bulletproof gear.

    Looking for a fabricator?

Anyone have a set of chains they're not using?

Found a few on Craigslist, but 255s are a really odd size.. Going to try and break through from Wanatchee to Ellensburg through Colockum next weekend.

No. Nothing compares to Pendleton wool. It is only shorn from a very special type of virgin mountain sheep (we don't let californians near them) and only once a year, during the coldest day in February. It seems cruel, but the wool quality is unsurpassed by even the most expensive synthetic fibers. 'Course, I might be biased because I live here. If the Pendleton wool won't keep you warm, the Pendleton whiskey will. :D
