Thanks for your input! But, I still think a junction box even thatbis big enough wouldn't work. The ballests give off heat, and closing them in a box on the rack.seems like a bad idea. Lol.

I heard from my Mother In law this morning. She said the shop told her that the battery was dead. I am assuming it is the original battery which makes it about 7 years old. Add that to the cold snap we are having here now and that was just enough. Still seems odd to me.

On ballasts in a box, how much power do they use? If you can find a number in watts, that is easily converted to heat output. The only time you should have anything to worry about is when you have the lights on and the box is in direct sunlight when it is 80 or hotter out. Chances are you won't have extra lights turned on when you are out in the sun.

There is the jack that comes with Jettas next to the spare in the trunk but under everything. The one for my wife's car is kind of odd looking, but it does the job. Her car also has factory lug bolts (yes lug bolts not lug nuts), and 1 of them on each wheel takes the key to get it off. If you have a similar setup, the key is in the trunk next to all the other parts for changing a wheel.

Also consider using the jack from your truck to lift the Jetta. That should give you plenty of lift, and I am pretty sure that it will fit under the frame just fine. Also Schwabb should swap out your wheels if you are putting on any other wheels that have Toyo tires. They will charge you if you want them to swap out wheels with tires from anywhere else, but how can they know if you got toyo tires for half the cost at Tire Rack?

    COOOODDDDYYYYYY

You can come over to my place this evening - i've got a floor jack and even a few jack stands.... i'll help ya throw some tires on. But you are correct, if the tires are bald then they won't touch them unless it's to check the brakes or throw new tires on.

Then we can make hot coco and snuggle by the fire...

So i posted this in the BuySellTrade but figured i would put it here as well since i live in Portland.

I have a 2006 DCSB that comes with the upgraded sound system. So I have the sub woofer where the nice storage cubby should be. Me being an outdoors man I would much prefer to have that little bit of extra storage.

So, anyone want to trade? I will give you the sub woofer and wiring for your cubby.

Or if you happen to have one laying around what would you charge?

I really do not want to know how much Toyota would charge so I am trying to avoid them.

BTW - i realize this is a personal problem, but im tired of my stock automatic shifter, has anyone with a first gen auto replaced it or seen it done before?

I miss my old T handle B&M..... :pout: i guess one more reason why i should manual swap.

IDK if they have overdrive or not - i fucking hate overdrive. (except for saving fuel) lol

I can't find an aftermarket shifter the accommodates overdrive.

    ya - overdrive = gay.

You should "wreck" your truck, and i'll do a full tranny swap!

YOUR GF just made a date with me....

"Oh and are we going to the mud run on new years together again?"

I said yes, i figured she was referring to just her and I.... No problem right?

If you can wait until after Christmas, I'll sell you mine (I don't need yours, I can't use it). It's at my Dad's house. Does about $20 seem fair? I'm flexible. I'd be using the money to take Dad to the Roadhouse as a thanks for storing all my parts :D
