Truck has a permanent spot in the garage. The lava is really nice. But so is the white. I hate the rims it comes with though

That's a great little car. Lots of mods to do to it - lots. Don't get the orange, but you can't go wrong with any of the others. I actually was convinced to get one before I changed my mind at the last minute and pulled the trigger on my truck.

Friend at work has it with some TRD bling under the hood. Has a super meaty growl.
He said that he looked at an STi, but you always had to drive like you wanted to hoon it. The FRS isn't going to beat an STi, but it cost him something like $10k less and it was more practical: You can put a boot into it when you want (240 HP), but it's also comfy getting home from a long day at work.

There was just enough snow to cause a few accidents on base including some idiot pulling in front of me thinking I can brake on a dime.

Yeah, I had about a foot space. I just was along for the ride until he got back in the other lane.

Keep saying it, no one this side of the mountains knows how to drive in the snow.

Not much snow, but got out early enough to pop the truck's snow cherry and have a little fun :)

...and this too, great all-around starter kit for anything off (and even on) the pavement:

Not sure the quality, but I'm sure it's on par with the other bargain gear out there.

Anyone upgraded their first gen brakes and want to share your experience - parts, cost, benefits, recommend or not...

i don't want to swap to tundra fronts, and my drums are fine, plus I've heard only negatives from the rear disc conversion.

My rotors are gone, id usually just buy oem rotors and pads but there's gotta be some locals with good input on other options for increased breaking power with larger/heavier tires and towing.

    Thanks in advance

In Spokane, I started with no snow this morning. By the time I got done looking at houses and back to sis in laws place, 2 inches with roads getting slick. Wife was driving for awhile when the snow was first coming down but it got worse than she wanted to deal with, especially on the Dunlop AT20s that are well worn. I drove through most of it in 2wd, traction control off. We had been in and out of 4x4 and when leaving the last house, she wouldn't go into 4hi but wouldn't show that she was out of 2wd. I still got around fine. After stopping at the store for beer (and dinner stuff) she finally kicked into 4hi so I left her there. Snow is fun here. Fewer idiots and fewer people in general. We are going out again tomorrow to look at a few places again but we may be making an offer on one soon. That will be a great base location for next summer's exploration trip Ben is going to put together.

    Edit:
That recovery kit Ben posted above sounds like a great deal and looks like decent equipment. If you don't have much (or if you are looking to add more or replace existing) jump on that deal.

I got to try out my Duratracs this morning. They did great in the slushy snow.
