I think it.must have changed when the stated started requiring new plates any time a vehicle changes owners. You used to roll the same plates onto the next owner. I still see trucks for sale and the sellers like "just renewed the tabs! Good till next year!" That doesn't make any difference now the way they do it.

Only thing i ever knew about plates was that "truck" plates begin and end with a letter.

Trucks also used to be 7 digits and cars where hyphenated xxx-xxx. Then they all went to the 7 digit plates.

County identifiers went away long ago. The state switched to a abc-123/123-abc in the 80s before they used up all the combinations. I believe in 2008ish the state switched to a new californiaesqe numbering system with a abc1234 for passenger vehicles, a12345b for light trucks (there are some exceptions as there are gmc suvs with silverado frames running the lt plates). Most of the plates are issued in succession so aaa1111 would be issued in 2008 where a newer plate baa1111 would be issued in probably 2016. Trucks are the same but it seems when the plates were switched in 08 that they were already using said system so newer trucks on the road should be c12345a where older trucks would be b12345a. The state also uses codes for xmt plate vehicles where the last letter signifies where or whom the vehicles is issued to.

Is THAT why they won't let me have a personalized plate ending in "SP" ?? :D

Haha yeah probably. They actually use wsp for their cruisers even for unmarked and thus likely limit the use of sp suffix. There’s a not so hidden dodge neon that runs up and down near jblm with a wsp xmt plate but I think his uhf whip gives it away more than anything else.

I saw that truck parked in the same location there last year. Had lunch at that Orenji place.

Makes sense. I assumed it was just succession since I noticed cars that were a few years older started with B versus my truck started with C and it's a 17.

saw this truck a few months back and forgot to post it.
took the pic because of the third gen wheels but after looking at it again noticed the lack of flares...
pic was taken over by Torfab in Everett

Crazy thing is that one dude was hit, thrown and got up and ran off.

You got to love the one dudes comment: “It looked very intentional,” Javier Gonzales, whose cameras recorded the incident, told the station.

    No shit Dick Tracey!
