I was at a downtown Seattle development breakfast last year. The featured guest was the architect that designed the High-Line in New York. The rest of the speakers were responsible for the development projects around the downtown area.

The opening statement by one of speakers was something along the lines of "I live in downtown and don't understand why anyone would own a car." Thank you very much you sanctimonious, self-righteous, MF'er. Not all of us want to spend every weekend at SAM, but instead prefer to go camping, fishing, mountain biking, and hiking. Relying on Uber won't let me enjoy my hobbies.

That is the mindset of the assholes that do the planning and permitting, they don't care at all about parking.

Thankfully I'm further north. North creek area. Propane heat, on a well, all it's missing is solar panels

Yeah. I worry about the state of the world somedays.

But, control what you can. Get folks out on those camps/fishing/hikes/bikes/etc.

I helped one of my friends lead hikes for the AMC when I was stationed in New York. It was neat - some of the most popular hikes were by train depots (eg, rattlesnake) and the like. But that won't work out here - in PDX it was getting folks to a transit center then departing from there.

Same works true for just about all the other hobbies that matter. Or else they'd not understand them and then you won't get to do them anymore.

I considered Woodinville but traffic going up 405 after work is a monster. Plus for the same price as an old split level there we have a house that's a 3 minute walk from the lake here in MV.

That's because they aren't from here. Most people move to work here not only for the salary but being so close to nature. Hence all the subarus and Patagonia outfits going on lol. Anecdotal but none of my friends who live and work in Seattle only stay in Seattle. All of them hike, snowboard, etc. A huge perk of living here.

I once road a bicycle to a bus stop near UW, road the bus to Bellevue, then to Issaquah, then road out to High-Point. After hiking we tried to catch the bus back where it stops on the High-Point exit. There was already one bicyle on their rack (max two) and we were stuck there waiting for another bus hoping it woudln't be maxed out on bicycle capacity again. It was late, we were exhausted... LUCKILY the next bus had room. If it hadn't... coulda been really crappy, as it was one of the last buses of the day.

I definitely never want to rely on the buses like that again.

Hate where we're going. All of I5 looks like the same generic apartment building. Can we throw up the no vacancy sign?

Saw a grey/white Tacoma today in Spokane. Fiberglass front and rear, American flag off the back, Dodge tow mirrors, and lifted to the sky. Its gotta be a member. Tacomabeast vinyl on the front window and bedside.
