People often expect far too much outta them. The main rule is you MUST have cell reception already. So at minimum a bar of 1x or whatever. Or maybe an area with intermittent hits. Turn on the booster and it BOOSTS what is there. If there is no reception, it will multiply your 0 reception x whatever it can, but that's still 0. The example I gave above was actually up at Lost Lake in the Stampede Pass area. Had a non LTE signal of 1 or 2 bars off and on. turned on the booster and had 3-4 bars of 4G LTE. These results vary. I've actually only used it a handful of times, but worked out well.

I would never want to rely on one of those things in an emergency. You’d be much better off with some kind of satellite communicator/EPIRB like a garmin inreach.

Plus they’re not tethered to the truck. My inreach lives in my ski pants pocket all winter.

WABDR can be done in a stock 2wd suv and probably most Subarus. I agree that the hitch carrier probably wouldn’t cause much of an issue.

Plus like 90% of rides you see here go on easy trails anyway. @Buttskevin21 is one of the few I see actually banging his truck up.

That hitch tray would not survive Gallagher... and I did Gallagher without "banging up my truck". I've also drug my hitch at Stampede plenty of times.

If you're interested, you could borrow mine to try out. It's easy to swap from car to car. I have the Drive Reach with the small antennae.

    Stock-ish
I went snow wheeling the other night with no food (did have a case of beer though so that counts as food), no shovel, 1 broke strap, no cell service, no max trax, a half ripped flannel from welding for clothing, and 2 quarts of gear oil spilled all over my rear floorboard. Gotta be one with nature out there and really enjoy it, especially with the gear oil smell  #goprepared

Old pic but I’ve banged this up at funny rocks. I’m guessing now that I’m on 35s prob bang it less, but doesn’t bother me since it’s steel and just needs rattle can to touch up lol.

6788D4A9-4771-4BCC-A6FA-274A1D01450A.jpg I must have took a wrong turn somewhere on the WABDR. That rack wouldn’t have survived this.

I'm thinking that's the the muddy section just past Bethel, but i could be wrong. It has multiple routes as of my trip up there last... july? I helped guide part of a troop of people through there (I walked from the ridge, when i saw a group of like 20 rigs heading that way, was a total Charlie Foxtrot). You could drive around all the holes and big ruts. My wife drove through in 2wd without a spotter.

The spot I'm thinking is the Beehive washout. It has a relatively steep up and down that it would probably hit on.

I stick to the easy trails. I have a SxS for bashing around on. That's why I moved from the Habitat to the Scout. Didn't need that level of offroad camping ability for what I was traveling on. I'll stick with the WABDR type stuff. That gets me far enough away from people. :)
