My wife had this Ford Escape (2006) years back. It had this auto 4WD thing where it sensed loss of traction, the rear diff would connect. Basically a front wheel drive and would switch to 4WD on its own in slippery conditions.
Anyway, we lived in North Bend up on the hill by rattlesnake lake. There were 2 waves a down the hill and the one we used was through the Uplands, a high end community with 5 acre lots and they had they’re roads plowed. But there was still frozen snow on the roads so she was creeping down a hill and all a sudden the rear end started sliding to the right. She wound up in a small ditch but was stuck. I got a call from her and I was all the way in Seattle at the time so I had her call AAA and they came and got her out. After that she wouldn’t drive in the snow or icy conditions. Now I said to myself I gotta figure this cars drivetrain out. So I took it on a snowy icy day down that hill. Sure enough the rear end engaged and the ass started to swerve out. Being an experienced winter driver I knew going with the flow of the road conditions is best driving practice so I eased on the gas and it righted itself safely getting to the bottom between the ditches. This thing had a rear end that was geared slower than the front so it slid out trying to keep up with the front end. Never understood why they did that figuring it was for going uphill not down hill? But yea that didn’t give me confidence after that so I drove her to work after that in snowy days

Yup. Our first home. She couldn’t take the hard winters up there so we moved but I miss N Bend. I liked that town.

That looks like it was a fun install! Verizon is up on the roof next door. I’ve been up there a bunch lately, we’re building out the old Wilde Rover bar down on the main floor

Spotted at Korean BBQ in Bellevue. Pretty sure I've seen it there before. Possibly an employee.
