    Unless I’m misunderstanding the mt annual registration fees that seems like a complete waste of effort.

    Seems like a lot of time and money to go through the hassle of setting up a fake llc to save 20$ a year on my truck. The initial llc fees are greater than 7 years worth of wa registration and that’s not including the annual mt renewal. It’d take 15-20 years before you broke even. Forget it if you own a 3rd or 4th gen as it’s double the cost in annual registration fees in mt vs wa. Is there a possibility you could get audited for fraud?

    Zero sales tax in mt seems nice on the surface but they fully make up for it in asset taxation. Property, vehicles, retirement, all thoroughly taxed.

    How much is registration including the sound transportation fees?
    106$ a year over here for the Tacoma.

    Oof.

    Seems reasonable to pursue that avenue then. 300$ a year beats 500$. Break even rate would be a lot faster.

    My 2020 Tacoma registration fee was $456 and my wife’s 2023 4Runner was close to $600 in Puyallup. The Sound Transit tax is insane! Once my kiddos are out of school I’m out of this area!

    The reason I’ve seen most people do the MT registration is there are no inspections and no emissions testing. They don’t need to see your vehicle at all. So people can all the mods, tunes, engine swaps, or whatever- and it’s all easy to register.
