Oregon dunes meet, spring april 23rd & 24th and summer dates in second post

Ok ill take you guys off. Dont forget about I want to make a summer dune meet to.

 

Very interested. I will be out of town April 24th & 25th but if there is another meet Ill likely be there.

 

Unless I am reading this wrong, it looks like all OHV and camping are prohibited at the Oregon dunes, from March 15 - Sept. 15.

It says nothing about south jetty or the ohv areas, the spot on the map is for pedestrian use. Youll see where they restrict usage its taped off and there will be signs with the bird on it. We are still good to go.

 

@mlcc is correct. The closure for the birds is only a specific area. The dunes are absolutely still open for camping and riding.

 

It certainly does not look like that is true from the website. I have only been out there one time however, so if you guys who are more familiar with the area say it's open, I stand corrected.

Snippet from the PDF linked above. The Florence dunes that you would be on are circled in Red. The snowy plover area is below it. There are others, but this is the only area in question for this trip.

 

Id like to start getting roll call started on who for sure is going and who isnt since we are a few weeks away.

 

I'm still 50/50 on showing up, but it would just be for Saturday anyhow if we came since we are staying in Winchester Bay. Heading home on Sunday morning.

Do you run HAM?

 

Im not sure how to say this correctly but here it goes. My wife was diagnosed with cancer so there is absolutely no way im going to be able to go to this meet, and if theres a summer one its a maybe.

I should be able to hang out for the day on Saturday.

 

It looks like we might still be able to go everything is being pushed back a few weeks so this will give us enough time to get at least one trip in before she goes through hell on earth.

 

I am for sure going - I've already got the time off, I bought some x-bull boards (just in case I get stuck, which I doubt will happen)

I also bought a midland GMS hand radio

I'm basically ready to pack and head out LOL

I'm an extrovert, so this whole COVID thing has been tough and got me itching to get out

EDIT: Also I've not been to Florence since high school, but I'll be driving down from Vancouver on Saturday morning; I'll probably be stopping by that Safeway just off 101 & 126 for some last minute essentials. I'm fine with exchanging contact details if anyone wants to meet up for some coffee or something before we hit the dunes

I've got a full set of 4 maxtrax as well. They've saved me in the sand multiple times. Usually cause I'm pulling a car trailer, though, lol.

 

I normally run HAM, but if you guys are running GMRS I might be able to borrow one from a buddy. Any specific channel and privacy codes you normally use? Obviously if everyone doesn't have a radio, it's not the end of the world. Not like we'll be running 80mph across the sand wondering where everyone went.

I'm a maybe. Sounds fun. Just might have plans that are still getting dates figured out around the same time.

 

Being that the ohv area is somewhat large we could me at a store or something, maybe safeway or some store with parking.
