I thought you did it yourself? I bought all the parts for it already. All 5 u joints and the carrier bearing

 

I also went to Drivelines NW for my driveline rebuild. They did good work, I think you could bring the parts to them. I wouldn't suggest driving around in 4-hi without your rear driveline though, you wont be able to turn very good on pavement. I tried it and i thought i was going to snap a front axle, had to take 10 point turns in parking lots. I just dropped it in my driveway and borrowed a car and took it down to them, and then reinstalled it myself.

 

Any 5 foot under covers?

You can turn fine. You have an open diff in the front. I drop from Moab back to Colorado Springs in fwd. other than torque steer, it was fine. Got decent MPGs too.

And if you have a selectable locker up front (I do) just don’t turn it on.

In a pinch yeah, you can drive it. But if you don't have to i wouldn't. There is no reason to risk damage to your truck. It's a good way to destroy your transfer case.

In a 4wd vehicle all things within the drive line must be spinning at relatively the same speed. By removing the rear driveline that puts extra stress on your front driveline and front axles to move your truck down the road. You can and will split your t-case eventually. The T-case chain selector isn't engaged when in 2wd so it sends all power to the rear driveline, when its in 4wd everything is locked solid to move all components at the same speed, hence why when you turn hard in 4wd it wants to bind up.

our trucks hold value very well. with covid vehicle manufacturing is down. i just talked to a guy about his son buying a new one. very few lot choices.

3wks was long enough, but I also drove the Lexus most of the time....
