$8500 for something that has a semi translucent roof would drive me insane when the sun comes up. My RTT makes me angry enough as it is

Ok but a nice canopy costs $3,000 and a nice hardshell tent costs also $3000, plus a couple hundred for the rack and all. $1500 extra for it to be able to be used as an actual camper sounds beyond worth it to me. We live in the PNW, a heatable area I can stand in out of the elements where I could cook or hang out when it's miserable sounds like a huge selling point.

From a utility and weight perspective these new pop-up canopies seem like a great deal to me.

yeah GFC advertises it as a “feature” that I wouldn't want either. I’ve seen a few people vinyl wrap their roofs to black out the light.

steel prices have skyrocketed since COVID. I went to the steel yard the other day for the first time in awhile and couldn’t believe a stick of tubing was about 50% more than I paid early last year. (I had stocked up right before the lockdown)

    still sucks though.

I will mention, I'm currently midway through getting my truck built by Wanderlust Overland(very reputable shop in Oregon City for any not familiar with them), I was originally planning on going with MetalTech sliders because I tend to like to buy local if I can but they actually advised to go with RCI or CBI instead because MetalTech's mounting design isn't as robust as others. Just something to be aware of I guess.

Interesting. I’ll be honest I mostly want them to prevent door dings so should be fine.

Yeah I just got it Saturday. I kind of disappeared from this site since the Rona. I’m gonna really work towards actually paying this off before doing anything modification wise. But sliders would protect my shiny doors and if I can find a used set I’ll be happy.

Looks good! I love the look of a black car, especially a blacked out Taco. I just can't do it because i dont want to keep up with cleaning it etc.

Yeah met a lot of good people on here. Got super distracted with a new job and getting married and moving. Sad to see my 05 go but it was too good of a trade deal. Didn’t get the chance to take my mods off before hand but it’s alright, someone can go buy the whole truck from Larson’s on South Tacoma way for a ridiculous markup most likely.
