ah okay, at first glance I couldn't tell if that was the camera angle or the wheels but looking again I gotcha now. Thanks!

My guess on the damaged wheel is the lugs weren't torqued properly and the wheel came loose which broke the wheel studs. It's more common to break from loose than being too tight. Would be interesting to see what the lug holes look like from the other side. Wheel could be easily fixed with steel lug inserts similar to ~ https://www.ebay.com/itm/351338250067

Maybe....but would you want a wheel that was fixed like that?

I know some manufacturers use this type of setup, but I’m not sure a retro is a great idea. Though, in my VW racecar days redrilling wheels was commonplace, so maybe it’s not so bad?

No big deal to redrill wheels (assuming it's done well). Drilling is how the holes got there in the first place afterall. And the steel inserts are usually stronger than the original holes.

Also with SCS wheels being hubcentric wouldn't the holes be alittle less critical since the hub not the lugs are what is locating and centering the wheel?

The radial “wiggle” caused by the ovoid holes is what id constantly wonder about. Curious if a member buys them what they will decide to do!

Me personally? I wouldn't have an issue with it. Lots of wheel manufacturers used to use inserts as a standard practice but due to the cost of materials and added steps in manufacturing they have virtually disappeared from any new wheel offerings. Primarily they are now used for wheel repairs or wheels that are being re-drilled to a new bolt pattern.

Its just one wheel. You would have 3 more if it fell the fuck off on the freeway. Most people who have 4 aftermarket wheels still have their stock spare so they can limp home on it.:duh:

My tiny little stud would slip right out of that stretched out hole.

Anyone need more lighting in their canopy? I’ve got just the leds from a LB canopy lighting kit from matt gecko LED. It’s 3 waterproof LED tape sections wired together & a 3’pigtail off the last section. No switch or wiring back to battery included. Led strips have Velcro backing so if your canopy is carpeted it’ll stick right to it. In Monroe, $25ED0601CB-C2CE-446B-A1EB-63278250F5DF.jpg A9B5DDAA-4415-45D4-95E2-28AD431E5C35.jpg

I lost a stock aluminum 4Runner wheel a summer or two ago and broke 3 (maybe 4?) studs. I never even checked the wheel. Limped home and replaced the studs and have been giving it hell ever since.
