    I'd stick with 4.88s with a 2nd gen/35s

I HIGHLY recommend buying loaded diffs from ECGS and installing them yourself. It's a very manageable job and makes it extra affordable.

I have a 4.88 rear diff from ECGS sitting on a shelf in my shop. I’m saving it incase one day I end up in NC so I can throw it through their front fucken window so they can rebuild it a 4th time.

Hmmmm... I just installed 5.29's and have been happy. What issues did you run into and at what mileage?

About every 3-4 months last year was breaking the teeth off the ring gear. After the 3rd time I put my stock diffs back in. I’m still pretty bitter over it.

I have no idea but they did a according to them “full overland build” which apparently now is a tune up with new window wipers and a Toytec lift with 32’s:rofl:

Another vote for ECGS from me. Have had my 4.88s in for two years now with no issues. I think the ECGS diff swap route is the best middle ground between paying a shop to do it, all the quotes I got were ridiculous, and setting up the gears yourself, which not many people are up for including myself.
Dang! Sorry to hear that. My gears have been solid. Probably doesn't make much difference but I got the Yukon gears. I think most people get Nitto.

The way it was explained to me by Randy’s R&P ECGS uses Yukon “seconds” ie the gears that don’t pass inspection. Then they warranty the hell out of them. Diff #3 was built by Randy’s with Yukon’s they said they inspected and it was “bulletproof”. I will say ECGS will bend over backwards to help. Randy’s build #3 for ECGS in less than 24hrs to get me back on the road faster. ECGS wants to build me a discounted D60. After swapping entire rear housings twice putting in 3 3rd members and swapping the front to 4.88 and back to stock in 9 months I’m kinda burned out and moved onto other projects with the truck.

Sucks that you went thru all this, but sounds like you now have it all sorted out. I would have went to Randy's as well, but I believe they quoted me almost $4k for Yukons/installed. I went the ECGS route....guess I'll wait to see if I have any issues but its definitely surprising to hear they use Yukon "seconds".

It's probably a longshot but anyone want to trade your retractable tonneau cover for my Leer 100r? It's black and for a 5ft bed. I can get pics to you. Ideally I'm looking for a Roll and Lock or a Retrax tonnea cover. Leer was put on by the PO. I'm just looking to go a different direction.

i had a frornt locker diff built by ECGS. later i regeared when i went to 35's and the shop i had build it local (in colorado springs) said that whoever built this diff was garbage. had a lot of issues with it. since it was a front diff nothing really ever reared its head. they did have to replace one of the ARB seals tho. it didnt leak but it was messed up some how

I had Zuk do mine. It wasn't cheap but he was as incredible as everyone has said. I also learned a lot from the process.

The most interesting part to me was how good my stock gears looked at 170k and 20 years (2002 Tundra). I'm happy I did them since 3.91 to 4.56 helps even with a v8 b/c I only have a 4 speed transmission in that guy but in hindsight I could have been just fine without doing gears. The most surprising find was that the stock LSD was in good condition, I assumed it was closer to EOL.
