 I mean I guess you technically had some installed? We'll see if I can wiggle out of it when I get down there. If not, oh well. I got the wheels and tires darn cheap so it's no biggie and I'm sure folx in COS will want 'em.

Bought 5 new Duratracs. They mounted 2 Duratracs on my driver side. the spare and passenger side were all Ultraterrains, lmao. Didn't realize til I walked outside the next morning and took a picture to show off my new tires... I called them, they had the correct tires mounted within 45 minutes of me calling. Manager made a bigger deal of it than I did. Said was a safety/liability issue since they are different diameters (even at same 265/75r16). Told me they had a site/crew meeting over it.

Oh myyyy! Good thing you caught it early on. And yeah, there's a variation in true dimensions among brands of the same size.

Doing some googling... wow... had no idea TPMS was required nowadays. Best bet might be to take them in OFF the vehicle and say they are going on a 90s Tacoma or something hahaha. Or just buy the sensor lol. Good luck!! let us know what you end up doing.

I think it may be interpretation of the law requiring tpms operable in vehicles of certain age... I looked for info for Colorado without success, but here's one example, and it's a bit dated, YMMV

I read an article where specific questions were asked of the NHTSA for clarification and one question was on whether a simple rubber valve stem could be used to replace a faulty TPMS sensor at a tire shop. They said that was fine, as it was already faulty. The SHOP can't make it inoperable. If it's already inoperable, it isn't on them to fix it or require the owner to fix. But I feel like some shops are just trying to limit liability and maybe make a few bucks. A shop can refuse service if they want, that's up to them. Just sucks if it makes our lives a pain, lol.

In the article you linked, yup, that's illegal. The shop cannot make the TPMS system inoperable by removing the tires with working sensors and not replacing them with working sensors. Fits perfectly with everything I read so far.

Tire shops have gotten very conservative since the Firestone / Exploder days. Of course, it certainly helps as it generates more money from those that don't know about the stuff.

For me, it has just meant that I do more of that stuff for myself, don't feel bad about maximizing savings when I need to use a tire shop, and unfortunately, staying away from DiscountTire. They used to be my go to, but their price structure that makes you ask for a match, forced haggling over the stupid road hazard contract, and the declining service just got to be too much when other places got easier.

TireRack and Amazon. Had great experiences with them over many years and quite a few sets of tires.

Had most of them mounted at the old Elliot Tire (now PepBoys) in Woodinville.

At times, I'm half tempted to upgrade my equipment at home, but liquid or other types of dynamic balancing and TPMS kinda puts me off.

Balancing is the big one though, with storage space coming in below that.

I've been edging on NoMars for way too long.

TMPS sensors likely don't react well with DynaBeads, Slime, or AirSoft pellets.

Oooof. Lemme change that up for you and introduce the truly ghetto bead breaker:

Under the receiver or skids is better than a rocker panel, but I have been using that setup since I first saw it. Was using C clamps before that. Haha!

Someone recently posted the idea to pin the fulcrum to the lever. Gotta do that.
