I’ve poured through some of those threads but couldn’t find a final answer if we need a voltage booster or not if you run an AGM battery? Mine is due for replacement and I had corrosion from my own leaking when wheeling I think.

From my quick, non extensive research, sounds like a "tune" / flash of the ECU can change the Voltage on a 3rd Gen. Obviously I have no idea how to do that, or if it requires a custom tune beyond what a lot of folks are running on here. I'm assuming they don't do that for a rig not NEEDING the extra volts.

The third gen doesn't have an Alt-s fuse, so you couldn't use a voltage booster. I believe @tonered knows about increasing voltage on a your trucks. AGM likes the extra voltage because that's where the extra capacity comes from. Charging on 13.6 or whatever these trucks are, is like only filling your fuel tank halfway.

    Thanks!

You are spot on. There are no easy gray wire mods for the 3rd Gen. The charging output is ECU controlled and boosted in a tune.

Like you said, the extra AGM capacity comes from the higher charge voltage. Hitting it with a Battery Tender every couple weeks can help also.

The issue with undercharging is sulfer build up on the plates. As you said, remedied with a tune or battery tender.

Do you want to feed your winch Cheetos or Prime Rib when it’s hungry. The X2 has a 5 year warranty vs the Costco 36 month. That right there is a dead giveaway of what the quality is.

I’m getting the Costco one as soon as my stock battery dies. The 24f AGM for $180ish is a steal.

My understanding is that they bought the brand, and slapped it on their house brand batteries.
