Should I go 35's? Lmao, have been debating in my head for sometime. I would first start with re-gearing which cost "only" $3K if I take it to Khaotik 4x4.

Regearing can be had for less than $3k.

What type of wheeling are you doing? Are 33's truly limiting you? 35's are a big commitment for a multitude of reasons. Probably not ideal for a DD.

Honestly buying a jig saw and some metal blades isn’t that big of a commitment. You could always resell the jig saw when you are done.

I heard that when you install 35's on a Tacoma, you're contractually obligated to respond to all "What's the largest tire I can fit, without rubbing?" On TW... that's too much commitment for me.

@GrubesBaja what about some 34's? I had 285/75/17 yokohamas before i went to 35's and cut my fenders, the 34x11 is an awesome size on our trucks.

Yeah i always come back to this as a reason why ive not just jumped into 35s. But agree, 34x11 imo are a great inbetween for the taco - unfortunately not a huge selection of tires though in this size unless you are open to 295/70/17s

Just be glad you are looking at 17’s not 16’s. I love my 16’s but wish I would have done 17’s as the tire options for 33+ sizes is so much better.

I like the tire choices in 17's a fair bit more than 16's. However, I like the OEM wheel choices w 7.5 width better in 16's. If going to 17's I think I'd go aftermarket to get 8" wide and that's a whole new ballpark. I kinda like sticking with Toyota wheels and just don't love the sport 17x7.5's.

That's what I also thought as well about BBK fitment and 16" wheel choice.

How about some tundra/sequoia 17x7.5's? or FJ?

It really is a shame no one is making narrower aftermarket wheels. In some models, especially 17's, it's hard to even find something narrower than 8.5-9" :(

Do it, I’m running 35s and I’ll never go back. I’m not regeared and I daily. It’s honestly not that bad. That being said I’d love to regear in the near future but you might as well get lockers and all that so it becomes on expensive slope. I’ve been running 35s for 100k miles on stock gears and have a new set of trail grapplers on the way.46E5E546-B18B-455D-88A7-0FCD258AB383.jpg

I'm on 285/75/17s and they're a decent enough compromise, only problems are: they're fuggin expensive, and finding used ones is next to impossible (would like a set for the trailer and my spare). Next set will be the Kenda Klevers in 35x10.5 at about half the price. Stock gearing, I don't mind it at all

I’d really like a set of 35x10.5s I like that narrow tire look. My international scout has 32x9.5s. My in-laws own a tire shop and can’t really get the 10.5s at the same discount I can get the 12.5s.
