1972 Suzuki TC90J with 185 original miles. Had been in storage in a house I inherited. I have a clean title, original key, original tool kit, service manual, and mirrors (glass in one mirror is broken).

That's a super cool bike. Gonna need a lot of going through. Gonna be a tough sell, you can get a lot of modern bikes for that $, but that thing is cleaaaan. Clean it up, put on Bring a Trailer or maybe auction through Iconic Motorbikes

 

Agree. Thought I would give it a try here first before cosigning it to a auction. This bike in this condition would sell for $5,500 - $6,000 at auction but then you would also have to pay the auction house fees and sales tax, so the asking price is $2k less than if purchased at a auction.

 

I have that exact bike with 1300 miles on it. We ride it on the trails all the time, and it has never let us down, and from what i’ve heard, it never will. They have a high/low range selectable transmission for trails or the street. Awesome bike. Just shut the gas off every time you’re done riding, and let it idle till it stalls out. No carb issues from shitty gas. Oil injected, so keep the two stoke oil tank full, and fresh gas. Check trans fluid as needed, and off you go, chain tension, the usual stuff. This thing takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!

 

Guarantee you do a maintenance check all the way around, fresh gas, and it fires right up.

 

Rubber o-rings, gaskets, hoses, etc dry out, especially after 50 years. It might fire up, but it's gonna have problems

 

Lol... as a guy that has a couple vintage bikes, this is 100% the rub. Not only does every bit of rubber dry and crack, but it's also nearly impossible to find replacements. eBay is one of the only reliable sources.

Also, every lubricant in that bike will have turned to paste/gunk. Things you wouldn't expect, like throttle and brake cables stick and need cleaning and lube.

Also, take care not to damage air cleaners, as those can be impossible to find.

The only one I've seen lately is black... and based on the low price, I think it might be hot...

 

I don’t want to get more specific and pour gas straight into the fire.
