5 years ago $1000 for skids seemed ridiculous. Nowadays you can barely buy the steel for that.

I need one in MGM. For that price it's almost worth the drive from AZ.

Us rolled mild steel is not a 1000$ for skids lol.

Hot roll steel is .35 a pound.
Cold roll steel is .46 a pound.

Mild rolled steel cost a lot less than people think.

We average about 6 million pounds per month in sales.

Spot price from the mil yesterday was .42 a pound.

I bought a couple sticks of 3" square tube, .25" thick and 20' of 6" flat bar, .25" thick from my steel guy last month for some projects around the farm. Felt a lot like buying groceries these days: I couldn't believe how little I got for the money. Headed out again today for some 1" square tube and some aluminum angle for my camper project. Might be worth heading up your way every now and then and buying materials, Steelhead Bum!

I’m assuming he meant for steel skids. It’s $920 for CBI’s steel skids, but add tax and shipping and it’s way more.

Current price for the aluminum skids are $1320.

I was just at the local metal shop and they were selling the mild scrap cuts for .50/lb.

Got 2 sheets for my tubbing for 9 bucks.

Just looked at our price sheet and at my work we pay ~$5.75/lb for aluminum sheets.

    Good deal.

Maybe I miss understood. I thought he said You can’t buy the steel to make skids for a 1000$ anymore.

1000$ will buy CBI 2000lbs worth of steel material. That’s a lot of skids lol.

Labor, manufacturing and business related expenses, that’s a different story. But the price of raw material is cheap.

IDK what aluminum cost. We only deal us steel here.

I read it the same way you did.

Seems like it was a bit of an exaggeration.
