That was my initial intent, but I've run into the following issues...

    • I've had about 4 separate trailers sell out from underneath me
    • Utility trailers last forever and are extremely useful, so they hold their value (you would be hard pressed to find a decent trailer for $100-$200)
    • Taking a HF trailer an upgrading axles, beefing up the frame, and getting it to the Iron Eagle build quality will cost you just as much
These are the conclusions that I've come to, after shopping and researching for over a month... but I'm open to suggestions and direction.

What’s the going rate for transfer fees on private sales? FTF, no shipping, just the money grab part.

That’s all? Just whatever the seller wants for the pew and $40 on top to FLL takes care of everything?

Yeah, it shouldn't cost too much... they're literally just mailing in a form. Do you have a CWP?

Sorry... That's what I meant. Concealed Pistol License vs Concealed Weapons Permit vs a Concealed Carry Permit...

Keep in mind the FFL should NOT be charging you tax on a private sale

I’ve never bought from a private party before but at the store I usually get a delay and the dealer has always released to me after the period (I think 14 days) ran out. Now I have a CPL and I wanna get a rifle from Armslist. Can I expect that to go smoothly? Don’t wanna piss off a seller having to meet me twice, especially if we don’t live in the same town

When I sold my pistol (I have a CPL) to an individual without a CPL (they had to wait the 14 days)... I showed up with the buyer to transfer the pistol to the FFL. Once the buyer received their approval to pick up the pistol, they went on their own to get their pistol. I did not need to be present. Technically, as soon as the seller signs the paperwork, the firearm goes into the inventory of the FFL. They are no longer the owner.

Thanks! So what happens in the unlikely event buyer doesn’t get approval? Or the more likely event that time runs out and FFL refuses to release even though allowed because they’re full of (chicken) shit?

If I remember right... More fees to transfer it back to the sellers name and a very uncomfortable conversation between the seller and the buyer. Buyer and seller should both make sure that they can legally own guns prior to the transfer.

The bigger issue is if the buyer is denied and then the seller is denied upon the attempted return... according to the PacArm guy, this has happened. In that case, everyone has a bad day.

Wow, yeah well you know the delay thing either time running out is real bullshit, especially if the FFL then doesn’t release although most up here do (not in CA!!!).

If somebody was legally barred from owning the FBI would find the relevant court orders/convictions in an instant

They are ALLOWED to, but not REQUIRED to. If I know you**, I’ll release a delayed firearm after the time frame has passed. If I don’t know you, you set off my “spidey-sense” or are a general dickhead, I’m not releasing until I get an affirmative response....

    **general you, not YOU specifically....

Yeah, that’s even close to right. Just mailing in a form....

And beginning July 1st, having a CPL won’t mean a thing, everyone is subject to the 10 business day waiting period. No more “pass and go” instantly for handguns, “semi automatic assault rifles”, or anything that ticks the “other” box on the 4473. Yes, that includes stripped lowers too....

Wow... and the restraints continue to tighten. Clearly it's been a while since my gun purchasing days (built my collection and now just sitting on it) so forgive my dated gun buying advice.

Lol, thanks. Are you an FFL? Just so I know not to go to your store. It’s not your effing job to vet a buyer. After the time is up you’re never ever going to get a response from the FBI because they don’t give a fuck.
If you’re playing such dumb games I hope you at least refund ALL fees to the buyer or get sued in small claims court because at that point it becomes contract law.
