I was considering looking at something other than the duratracs because they don't sell them in a 285/75/17 like I want, only 285/70/17. I'm still undecided though because I've been really happy with all of my sets of duratracs so far.

My only complaint with my Duratracs is that they are loud. I’m going with Cooper STT Maxx after.

I am, looking at getting a Tundra. I might part the wheels and tires.

 

Let me know if you decide to split them up. Those are the tires I’m planning on picking up since my ko2’s are at like 6/32’s lol.

 

I am about 7k into my first try of the GY Ultra terrains. Decided to give these a shot after running duratracs for years.

So far so good. I think I’d go with these over K02’s. I haven’t ran K02’s myself but my buddies have and weren’t very impressed if you’re doing a lot of off highway driving.

That said I know a lot of people on here run them and like them.

 

Road better, quieter, etc

I've only ever had KO2s on my rigs, so I'm biased. But, I've been happy with them in snow and general off road shenanigans. I've never been through significant mud, so I can't attest to performance in that respect. Only downside I've noticed, IMO, they can lose grip on pavement when cornering fast in wet conditions. Been a few times on 99 where I've cornered a little faster than posted and I can feel the truck slip a little. At least enough to cause a small sphincter factor.

 

I agree, had the pucker factor a few times myself.

 

I would say that KO2 wet traction is, well, shitty........

Could be the combo of load range E tires on a truck that weighs just 5,000 lbs, but when it's wet, I can make the truck break loose and slide extremely easily. So much so that I don't want my wife or daughter driving it in anything but the driest of conditions. They hate my truck anyway, so even then, they don't really want to drive it anyway.

They seemed to fair pretty well this past February during Snowmageddon, but even then there were times I thought traction broke sooner than expected....

 

I drift everything with my duratracs. That and the fact they are hard to balance are my only complaints. They are awesome in the snow

 

I would have to agree. Back when I had my new ko2, in the rain I couldn't drive over 50 mph without hydroplaning if I hit a little standing water.
My good buddy thought I was just making it up. He went and bought a set for his wife's Tahoe. He then told me he has had the same issues.

 

That’s been my experience as well. I’ve driven about 60k on my current KO2 E. Fun as hell when dry. Scary as hell when wet. Traction is pretty awful on wet or icy surfaces - even with all the extra gear I’ve got bolted on. Had planned on replacing them with a C load soon, but this late summer rainstorm was a nice reminder to try something else.

 

C load are not much better in wet conditions. I had wildpeaks before Ko2's and they were way better in the rain.

 

My girlfriend is getting a set of them for her 4runner. They are the only tire she wants considering she wants to do 275 70r 17s and not 285s

I put a good used set of BFG Ko's on my 2nd gen pickup back in the day... hated them... switched to a good used set of the OG cooper STT's and loved them. My 14 tacoma came with new 265/75r16 ko2's when i bought it.... hated them... i had to put the truck in 4wd in a few places where i NEVER had to put my 1st gen tacoma in 4. Right now i'm running the Kelly Safari TSR's i ran on my 1st gen tacoma... love them, they are the only tire I've ever bought more than once. Same tire as a Duratrac or Dunlop fierce MT they just look different. The kelly safari, goodyear duratrac, and dunlop fierce tires have the same carcass, rubber compound, and are made in the same factory. My dads buddy ran a goodyear store for 30 years
