Went yesterday from the banner side. My 2wd 4 banger did fine, but glad I put in the e locker in a few months back cause I felt like I needed it. I would definitely would recommend 4wd if starting from the bottom, lots off loose rocks. Made it to the bottom just as the rain started coming down.DEFD9CB6-0EEF-4AE2-BD21-31C9A32B2FC4.jpgD75FEEBD-E5B1-474A-B201-07158F191248.jpg E22CFFEB-DF5E-43A1-94A4-BA18E8B5F367.jpg0417669C-CC63-4940-9A32-6CCA8E4E3689.jpg 8AAD1248-7667-4BE1-9E49-23FA07736138.jpgDA7A029D-3F9A-4023-A4A5-37A328BA5C5B.jpg 38EF1730-55E1-4C42-9AAC-ED5ACF1C58E3.jpgA73D22E0-5F04-4BE1-9B5A-D37840DD3728.jpg

Yea it was fun. Was debating going on the trail due to having a few big drops of rain on the drive up and only being in one rig, but glad I went and can't wait to hit some more desert trails. Tis the season.

Btw, not familiar with the one pic (i.e. 3rd pic down from the top... like you're in a small ravine), was that the north side??? I've never done the north side of it yet after being there about 3, maybe 4 times. For some reason, I keep forgetting to do that part of the trail??? :goingcrazy:o_O:annoyed::frusty::facepalm: I want to check out the cabin that is there... just to say "I" was there.:thumbsup: HAHAHAHAHA :laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Also, if you ever happen to see a BLUE colored 2nd Gen in the O'side area with a swingout in the back, on I believe 33 or 35's, that is my friend Jason.

Here's his rig: (NOTE: my fata$$ back there... HAHAHAHA)

TBH I was not sure of what part of the trail I was on. I didn't see any any cabin so I most likely was not? That photo makes it less steep as it is. The 5th pic from the top was the bottom of that section.

??? WOW... MUST have been a while for me then???!!! I do remember the switchbacks for that trail. Just interesting with that photo on how it looks as if you are in some sort of small canyon/ravine???

    Either way, very nice photos.

Yeah, the north side is the "Rodriguez Truck Trail" and has a rock garden for people that want a bit of a challenge with rock crawling, but there is an alternate around the rock garden... supposedly. Anyways, there is a cabin on that part of the trail as well. Since it is almost desert season, maybe plan another trip there and go the northern route and then down?

Nice, I'll wave when I see him. I don't think anybody will spot my Taco, I only drive it every other weekend and rarely on the street Haha.

Sounds like a plan to me, though my truck is a bit underpowered for the most part. Do you think it will make it fine? I'm obviously not doing rock crawling lol

Yeah, I'm not really a rock crawler myself (i.e. medium/moderate trails is about as hard as I am willing to go). Besides, my truck is NOT built for the harder stuff anyways. Supposedly there is an alternate right next to that rock garden? Also, my truck is a 2.7L auto... and yeah, that part of the trail you should be fine on as well. If not, almost 99.9999% sure we can turn around and eventually go the southern route. From Oriflamme, go to Fishcreek Wash or on to Holmes Camp Ground, which is just down the road from Split Mountain Road.

I've been wanting to go back to the Pumpkin Patch and I have a GPS navigator unit that has the trail mapping to go to it. I've been wanting to try that out.
    GPS_setup.jpg

It worked REALLY WELL when I did Swansea-Cerro Gordo Road this past Feb.:fistbump: Took me DIRECTLY straight to the trailhead!!!:fistbump::transformer:

Yeah that sounds like fun. Last time I was out to pumpkin patch was about 6 years ago and on ATVs. Would be a fun drive in the Taco, but also thinking of buying some more desert toys so that might change haha. Either way, I plan on hitting the trails as much as possible this season. Glad I drive a company vehicle during the week, gives me a bit to save for repairs and upgrades haha.

If you want, I've also been wanting to try Coyote Canyon Trail, I believe it is called??? I gotta grab my book outta my "trail box". Anyways, yeah, I really need to do some maintenance work on my truck. Not trail damage stuff, just maintenance I haven't been able to get to for various reasons. But yeah, definitely sounds like a plan brewing here for sure. It should be fun.

There is a primitive campground near the Fishcreek entrance and/or Holmes Camp Ground, but man it can get pretty damn crowded.

Anyways, I've been wanting to try quite a few trails in that book... easy or moderate... doesn't matter to me other than just checking places out while I'm out there wheeling, camping, and most importantly... eating burgers and dogs!!!:fistbump::D:p All about the Stadium Brawts and bag of Doritos!!!:hungry:

Let's definitely plan something for sure!!!:fistbump: I'm sure my friend Jason will want to tag along as well. Me, him, and another guy I've known practically all of my life have done night runs out there. Jason knows that whole area really well. I just want to go do "my thing" as well with regards to that trail book and GPS navigator... just to try it out.

Btw, before time to "clock out for the night", what kind of comms do you have? Looks like you have a CB whip or is it a 2m whip???

Yea its a Cobra 75 wx st and just a 4' CB Whip. All used but got them for a deal. haven't really tested it out though. Got the CB antenna mount from BAMF, bought one for each side so I could mount my amber and antenna.

AWESOME!!!:fistbump: I've got CB, a pigtail (will explain that one later), a 2m Yaesu mobile, and Baofeng handheld... plus my 800MHz scanner... HAHAHAHA

And if all hell breaks loose, aside from flaming our trucks for smoke signals, I have a HAM license and can jump on any one of the nearby repeaters if I have to.:fistbump:

It's been a few years since I ran this trail. I definitely recall the little rock garden off Rodriguez Spur Truck Trail. It was fun to play around on, get stuck, etc. No one in our group could make the last obstacle - forcing us to turn back and take the 'by-pass' - which is actually the fire road we ventured off of to play in the rocks. Nothing about the trail was too challenging back then. We came in from the gate at Banner off of 78 (@ Chariot Canyon). Looking at Google Maps (sat view) you can clearly see the rock garden and the 'by-pass'
Fun dashview video (not mine) here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNCyHbB-RSM - Around the 13:15 mark is the intersection of Oriflamme and Rodriguez.
