The drivetrain is the most reliable aspect of these trucks. It would be nice in Koyo Rad would make an all aluminum radiator like they do for the early trucks

Yea, that's the way the complaint (about the frames) read.

So I went to pick up my radiator this Friday at oriley auto and they have 3 that say are compatible with my truck. It says that the only difference is core size. So how do I know which size my truck originally came with? Tape measure?

    Green Tacoma,

The best way to determine the diameter of your core is to take calipers or a tape measure to your old one. That is the only way I can figure out how to do it.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

Your first mistake was going to O'Reallys. Order the Denso on Rockauto and avoid that place.

is radiator longevity at all a function of the pink coolant with either by years and/or mileage on the coolant
i am at a crossroads here not ever encountered before :pccoffee:

Then the plastic tanks can only thermal cycle so many times before getting brittle then just the right bump crack

No so much the color of the coolant but how often it gets changed.

Without any other mishaps like oil in the coolant or trans fluid in those applications .

It is when the cooling system is neglected and ignored things start to degrade

Granted Toyota Red seems to work well.

Though the proper Green works just as well .

One reason or another mine seemed to get changed often .It gets drained it gets replaced after all compared to the Engine it is cheap.

Then the impact of a nice chunk of metal off the road can take out the radiator and condenser almost anytime.

Does toyota red coolant have good life left over 50k miles less than 2 or 3 years

I thought timing belt changes were a good time to just swap out a radiator unless someone is on a tight budget.

Isn't your red about 1/2 way used time and mileage wise?

I would be lucky to get 20,000 miles between changing I would venture 6,000 to 10,000 miles on average between all the Toyota`s I have.
