I guess to me since I make effort to make things look stock it's not really something that 'looks' modified like most of the trucks I see. When you look at it most of what I've done just kind of blends and looks like other trucks. But I'm happy to share what I've done if people actually want to see it. Plus, like I said, it gives me a good way to keep track of what I've actually done as I seem to forgot what all I've done. :D

Thanks man. I wired them in the daytime and wasn't sure how bright they'd be but was pleasantly surprised to see how bright they were even in broad daylight and knew they would be plenty bright at night. I considered putting the switch inside of one of the bed cubbys but figured it would be more weather-proof and work-proof inside the cab. That and most OEM bed lights switches are located somewhere in the cab so it just seemed to make more sense. I'm sure there will be instances where I wish I had put the switch in the bed just like I'm sure there will be instances where I'm glad I put the switch in the cab so I'll just stop thinking about it and just be thankful I've got bed lights finally. :p

What company did you get the lights from?

Mounting a rifle in plain view like that is just begging to get your truck broken into.

With the bar that is holding it in, they would need a sawzall to get it out, plus I'm sure his alarm system would be going off to let him know.

Some seller on eBay. I think you can get them on Amazon too and they're pretty cheap. Like $15 will get you a roll that's more than enough to do the bed. In fact, I think I've got enough left over to do the underhood too and already have a hood pin in place for the alarm system so I think I'm going to install an underhood LED light next.

Yeah, me too. They'll come in handy in like 8 months. lol Actually, it's going to be a little cooler today & tomorrow so I think Mother Nature is hooking me up to be able to put these puppies to use.

It's not in plain view. You can't see it from the outside of the truck even if you're peeking into the (tinted) windows. I have people who ride with me who don't even know it's there right above their head. I've got a VERY good alarm system on it, it's locked at all times (even in my garage at night which also has a VERY good alarm and camera system) and I'm careful about where I park it. In addition it's not just laying on a seat it's secured using the exact same parts they use in police cruisers. If you think those aren't sturdy then you haven't seen them in person. I appreciate your concern but trust me when I say that I'm ultra paranoid about my firearms falling into the wrong hands so a LOT of thought went into this rifle rack before I actually put it in.

I think it's better that you put the switch in the cab. So if your driving down the road and forgot to turn them off at least you don't have to pull over to turn them off.

Yep, this was my thought too. Not only that but I envisioned a scenario where I had something wobbly tied down in the bed driving at night in a rainstorm when I could simply flip a switch and look in the rear view mirror or turn around to look at a red light and see that the load is secure w/o getting out of the truck. I'm sure that's going to happen a lot! :D

If I saw that in a truck, I would think twice about even looking into the truck, let alone breaking into it. If that is the weapon they travel with, what do they have next to the front door?!
Ost, I might want to have a mini mod day where I buy you beer or drinks and you help me not be a bitch and finally wire up my rock lights. I don't need a switch at all as the kit I bought has a RF remote. I also need to wire up the lights that came with the ARB bumper to run off the parking lights and blinkers. Any interest in a day like that? I will post it up on the upcoming events too. I have a few other things I need to do too.

Your opinions about security mirror mine- my parents always got onto me for locking my truck and making it honk literally every time I got out of it in the drive way, and I always said, "Have your things stolen. I won't."

If something gets stolen from my truck, it darn sure won't be because I left it vulnerable. I do need to one day get a real alarm system, however.

    Or on their HIP!

If I saw an AR hanging from the roof of a Tacoma I would think it's the coolest thing ever. And for someone to think it's ok to fuck with a truck with an AR strapped to it is already looking to get the shit knocked out of them.

Shoot, anyone who wants to mess with any truck should be looking to get knocked out. I swear every week I find fingerprints on my truck in my dorm parking lot... Earlier this semester someone crushed my mirror, police "couldn't see who it was on the cameras" and after it got out of the shop I found a paint exchange on the fender. I'm really getting irritated by it and I'm about to park in the furthest corner of the lot just to be alone.

How could someone think of damaging something so pretty as a Taco? :notsure:

OP: Do you offroad? I notice you got 5100s and the rear TSB, but still curious. If you haven't, what was your reasoning for the TRD skid plate?

Also, how do you feel about plasti-dipping your center console parts? Is it an even coat, does it affect the texture, etc, you like it?
