Interesting. So what makes you prefer a Tundra over something like his Taco?

Well that's what I was thinking, but if a man does happen wheel and takes pride in it- far be it from me to insult him!

    V8 sound...power...room...just a bigger truck overall

The only thing I miss about my Taco is wheeling....now, I just ride with one of the guys

Sounds like you need a taco with an exhaust and blower! The extra MPGs, offroading, and sheer beauty will make you forget all about how small the cab is!

I'm going to take a page from Ost's book. Over the years I have put a ton of money into my truck but I don't hard core off road like the others on here. Hell I have a bad back and all the bouncing around hurts, but I do want to use it for hunting and camping and know I will get there and back no problem.
So Ostrichsak I'm not going to copy you just the idea of an off road capable mall crawler. I have seen your pics and love what you have done.

I fell off the top of a trailer truck trailer walking backwards my first tour in Iraq, I was busy pulling a camo net over and wasn't looking. I have had 2 back surgeries cause of it, and the 2nd one, they nicked a nerve to my left leg, so I have crap going on with that. So now bad discs L4 L5, L5 S1. And no way will I do a 3rd unless I get it in writing that they will pay me tons if it doesn't work. I have too much scar tissue and too much physical therapy to trust in another one.

:oldglory: Iraq? Thank you for your service! :oldglory:

Your issues sound just like my dads. I'm not the one with the bad back yet, I'm only 19. He hurt his doing duct work, but unfortunately was off-duty and helping a friend, so no compensation. Has had 2-3 surgeries and refuses to have another. Little feeling in his left leg. Discs fused together.

To add to that, someone ran into him in a parking lot, crushing his knees between his trunk and their bumper. So they cover the damage, right? They turned out to be an illegal immigrant, so it took literally months to get anything dealt with, his knees are okay, but he really has no way to exercise now.

I had some left-over LEDs from the bed lights I added so rather than buy a kit I decided to just wire up my own under-hood lighting. Used the existing ground pin for my remote start for the ground side so it comes on when the hood is opened and turns off once it's closed. Up next I think I may either buy the Redline hood strut kit or make my own because I'm tired of the hood prop rod since it's been a few vehicles since I've had one and it annoys me to use the one in this Tacoma now that I'm used to not having to mess with it.

I think it turned out alright and wasn't very difficult to do either. Finally some light under my hood!

That's awesome, and hood struts would be a nice compliment.

    Ahem ^^^

I know you don't offroad but there are other questions!

Thanks man. I kept wondering if you were going to sell that Tundra to get a supercharged Tacoma but it didn't materialize. Yet. ;)

You shut your pirate hooker mouth!

I don't really wheel the way this local mothers do because I don't enjoy breaking shit. I know my truck will do it and I do some stuff but I'm not up climbing mountain faces every weekend like most the guys around here do. TRD skid plate was for looks. I couldn't stand the way the underside of my truck looked from the front because it was all beat up and rusted and just looked like an old truck. This cleaned up the look a lot and I think looks cool too. The parts I derped look/feel fine. I disliked the silver look and think the black looks better so for me I dig it. Texture is fine and it has a better 'feel' than standard spray paint does since it's a rubbery feel. In my Supra I spray painted the interior dash pieces and it 'felt' like they were spray painted. It looked good but didn't quite feel right to me. In fact, the reason I painted them was because from the factory they had a rubbery coating that over the years began to scratch and looked bad. Had this stuff been around back then I woulda used it to freshen up the look of my dash pieces. I know this is a Tacoma forum but here's the interior of my Supra so you can see what I'm talking about:

    IMG_0257_fe59281b3b947a6e5683130c61d1bc43f749bb84.jpg

This plastidipped stuff in my Tacoma woulda been perfect in my Supra and felt more OEM than the spray paint I used did IMO.

I agree with you on the skid, it does look much better. I just couldn't justify getting it without needing it. How your road noise btw?

As for plasti dipping, good to know. I may do mine one day, I also have silver.

Road noise from what? The tires? Skid plate?

lulz Glad you got the reference or that could have been awkward.

That's a good question. I had a guy one state over make me an offer I couldn't refuse. So I didn't refuse. I'll probably have another one someday though. Kick ass cars!

Yeah, one of my favorite interiors of all time. From the passenger seat you can't even see the navigation unit because it's angled towards the driver so much. I dig how the whole thing is designed with the driver in mind.

About a week from never. :D
