The tires more than anything I suppose. I don't think the plate would do anything.

Had some BAD road noise earlier, I found out when you flip the back seats down for cargo its pretty loud.

And I could have sworn I put a Burgundy quote in one of my replies, I guess not.

Road noise is fine. In fact, even though these Duratracs look much more aggressive the road noise isn't any louder than the stock Rugged Trails at any speed that I've tested. Overall I'd say it's a smidge quieter too. Good traction, good tread wear & good performance. Very good tires.

They look nice with the lift. I'll have to consider those, because I don't want larger tires when I lift the truck to maintain MPG.

Duratracs w/Load C tires aren't going to affect MPG's too much. Steer clear of Load E though because the weight difference is enough to affect your MPG's and most will never see a difference between the two other than a harsher ride & slightly better puncture/tear protection from wheelin' on trails. I personally happen to think that Load E are way overkill for these trucks but lots of people here love them.

Are your tires street or all terrain?

Big tires, big lift, Lots of stuff's.
People who wheel a lot love the E rating the C's get shredded side walls. But yes if you are not wheeling or plan to all the time c is fine.
You had duratrac MTR's what is this tire you speak of. :D did you combine two good year tires.

    Duratrac's are AT tires.

Looks awesome! Have you ever considered the (struts?) for the tailgate? Easy drop tailgate or something along those lines, thought it would match the hood.

This seems very feasible and I would like to do it, how much did it run you? Any downsides?

I considered it but had heard stories of them failing. Dropping a tailgate slowly by hand is 2nd nature to me since I grew up on farms & ranches in Nebraska. I doubt I'll do that one but now that you planted to seed I'll probably end up having to do it. lol

The Ultra kit is normally $120 plus shipping but they're doing $30 of for TW.com members through the end of the month. Search for the thread and order via their link and it's basically the same price as their entry level kit. Pretty darn good timing if you're thinking about doing it. No real downside other than the Benjamin you'll be without.

I never let my tailgate slam either, not from being overly exposed to trucks but just out of respect for possessions. Off topic but it really irks me to see people who tear up their stuff!

Anyway, yes the timing is nice but I have an impulse problem... I am going to ignore it for the time being and hold off on that! Yes I may miss the savings but I'm overwhelmed with "projects" right now.

There's more than one kit...? And as for justifying the tail gate mod, it would just be icing on the cake for such a nice truck. Think of it as a luxury gift for your truck!

Yeah, there's three kits. And if you miss the sale just get one of the other two kits that are cheaper and I think they look better because the strut body is black in color. I really think that woulda looked better on my truck but they're a better quality product with a better warranty so... I chose function over form on this one.

My truck has already had too many luxury gifts as evidenced by the list on the first page. lol

Eh, I don't mind paying extra for quality. (I drive a Tacoma!) And nonsense, it can never have too much luxury! But hey, to each his own, I'm not trying to force my ideas on you.

I have put these on my truck. Love it, only I went with the least expensive kit, I also figure in the future when i need to replace the strut I can really choose anyone I want to put on with the right length and pound.

The Optima in my sig came with them. I added them to my Typhoon & Supra & my Audi's came with them. My previous 6 or 7 vehicles either came with them or I added them so it's been a long time since I had a vehicle w/o them and that's when you realize how handy they are. I check my oil level at every fuel fill up & people are always asking to see my s/c so for me I'm constantly putting my hood up and that prop rod is an extra step that drains my will to live after a while. lol Generally you can put your own kit together and save a few bucks and I've done that before but it's really nice to just have a kit for a few bucks more that has all your mounting locations and everything done for you. No trips back and forth to NAPA to get your parts all thrown together or trial and error on struts & location & such. I almost wish the Elite kit had black housing struts though. It would be cool if the housings were like an anodized black and the actual rods were that black coating or whatever it is sport bikes were using for a while on their front forks. I personally can't stand chrome so I'm not a fan of the shinny housings and even debated forgoing the $30 discount and getting one of the other two kits since they're all black but it is what it is I guess.

I hear you on the chrome, I don't like that kind of "bling" on my truck. And not having that damn rod in the way when doing something is well worth it, no worries about hitting it and the hood falling.
Now I just need to figure out a lighting system like you just put in, I know of the kit BeeRad is making, I think I'm going to get it.
