Yeah, everyone was fine. Both of us were upset that it happened but physically fine. It was pretty low speed and I'm amazed how much damage happened at the speed at which he hit me. Why would this make you shy away from buying a plate bumper?

You mean to like the newer style trucks or like a plate bumper?

I say it shys me away from a plate bumper because the factory bumper is designed to absorb shock so that neither the frame nor passengers are damaged (if possible). Plate bumpers conduct the force straight to frame damage or whiplash. I used to think they would just protect you more but I quickly found out that was not the case.

And I mean like the newer style (if you like that). A handful of TW members have converted the nose and I think it was around $2000 for parts.

Yeah, who knows. Maybe I would've been hurt or had frame damage with a plate bumper. Then again, I almost never get into accidents and have never had one that was my fault so that might be a pretty low percentage possibility. Something to think about though.

I don't mind the style of the newer trucks but I don't mind the style of mine either. If it costs the same I might consider it but I don't want to have to make another Satoshi to match the new style trucks. They're a PITA. If I spent extra money I like the look of that All-Pro front bumper that is on a Pyrite Mica truck and painted to match. It's a good looking truck. I'll just have to see what the next few weeks bring with the ins company to have the details with which to make a decision.

Really like everything you've done to the truck, and the stance looks great. Maybe I missed it in the thread, but what setting are using on the 5100's up front? Also, are you using the stock coils?

What sucks even more is not only have I not heard from the guy's adjuster but I just called around and all the body shops are at least a month out for appointments.

The tips are 3.5" on the exhaust.

Repair. Most varied from bring it in any time to a week for an estimate. One said that depending on the insurance company they might not go off of estimates anyway. He said some send an adjuster who approves the claim at $x and then it's between the repair shop and insurance company at that point because if it goes over the repair shop works with the insurance company directly to get it covered. Not sure how I'm going to get a fancy new plate bumper & some spinners if that's the case. :(

From my understanding, it's a month out because it's a small repair (at least, thats what I was told) Hell, Abra Auto Body had me a month out just for an estimate  the at fault drivers carrier came out and did an estimate and I sent that into SVE Automotive (recommended by our carrier, at fault driver, and Yelp) They went off of that....I had a small squeak that was driving me insane to the point where I was going to get under the truck and fix it myself.....SVE took the time out of their own day, located it (bent sheet metal) in 20mins and fixed it themselves to hold me over until mid October.

Actually, in my case it was the opposite. A couple said that if it was something small they might be able to work it in sooner but wouldn't know until they looked at it.

    Quick audio system update:

After having my setup for nearly a month I decided I disliked it enough that it was time to make some changes. The Kicker 6x9 components were just WAY too bright considering the factory location for the tweeter was about as close to ear level as you can get without putting them in the B-Pillar or something silly like that. The crossover had a three position switch to set the tweeter and even on the lowest setting it was still painful even at moderate volumes. I had hoped that as the rest of the speakers broke in they would fill up the void in the lower frequencies and maybe the tweeters would mellow out but that just wasn't the case.

So, back to the drawing board I went.

This time I knew I probably wanted a simple 2-way 6x9 that had good ratings w/o costing a fortune. What I ended up with after reading way too much was a simple 2-way Pioneer 6x9 TS-D6902R that was once $200 that I think I paid about $85 for. Thanks to Amazon Prime they showed up quickly and I was able to return the others at no cost so trying them out really didn't cost me anything and ultimately these speakers not only sound better but saved me some money over the Kicker components too. They have a more rigid cone, better surround, much larger magnet and just a better construction all the way around at a lower cost. I took some pictures as I was swapping them out for reference (no pics of the tweeters or crossovers on the Kickers that came out but you can imagine):

Another update on this amp fiasco too:

Got another brand new NVX amp and all four channels worked fine but the sub channel was still under powered for the JL Audio 10w3v3 sub. I had another new Infinity amp on the way but decided that since it was a little bit longer than the NVX and got in the way of the rear Weathertech mat I'd rather just run the NVX even though the sub channel on the Kappa amp seemed to put out more power than the NVX amp. So I decided I'd order up the same sub as what I had installed but in the 2ohm flavor which would effectively add about 50% more power. The sub showed up today and in about 5min I swapped it out and it was exactly what I was looking for! Much more power to the sub now and the absence of painfully bright highs from the tweeters all spells a much more uniform sound system. Not to listen to it for a few weeks to get all the speakers 'broke in' and then I can tune it a little bit better and see how it's going to perform but so far I'm quite happy with it. Should give me plenty of enjoyment.

Now to get my front end fixed....
